Hey guys, Wanting to get my car alarm installed, im on the gold coast, i dont really have the time to take the car to a workshop at the moment nor do i really trust them.

there was a user on here that had his own business and that was based in brisbane, i cant remember his name nor any threads he has posted in... but he came out to you...

would like to try and find this user again OR do any of you suggest someone that i can talk to about installing this?

Yeh i was in touch with him last night, looks like ill have to try and take the car up to him though. :D

It's a ball ache but it will be worth it ;) when some ghetto rat tries to take it and fails it will make it all worth it:)

yeh its acually working out alright, big day for the car tho lol.

6am - guy comming to do gaurd rolling

7.45am - wheel alignment and full setup

10am - powertune and connecting up some extra goodies now that iv run the motor in

4pm - over to chris's to stay there the night

lol. problem is im now stuck in brissy without a way home haha

There's this thing called a train, apparently you can catch it and it'll take you from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and other various locations. Crazy I know, exactly what I thought.

haha anyway on a serious note, I was chattin to Chris not long ago and I'd have to do the same thing and drop it up there, can't wait till i finish uni so I can go full time and have enough money! When's the car going up, and how much?

Also how much to get the guards rolled? my fronts need it bad!

well.... he quoted me 400-600 for the install. but the car didnt make it to him tongiht.

My new clutch was slipping so i couldnt even get the car power tuned....

so in my frustration i ordered a new twin plate clutch and bought a new car! :@

wondered what happened today. I gto the phone call mid arvo and folllowed most of it. now it makes more sense.

to those asking for costs : best not to. I work on a car by car basis and as EVLWOG (hi laurie!) will tell you with his I seriously DID NOT FK around with it when I did it.

hehe!!

anyone else will take too long to get into it let alone find things in that car.. see ya late thurs.

thanks for the compliment. (the R33 will be done the same way.)

Yeh so sorry about it, was rather....angry at the time, the car will get to you, just have to make it movable once again...

  • 5 months later...

I realise this thread is a bit old now, but I still wanted to add my 2c.

I just had an alarm installed in my R32 GTST by Chris at Audio Express, I can't express how happy I am with the job done.

Not only did he install my alarm PROPERLY, he also managed to fix the reception on my stereo, ripped out the "baby turbo timer" that came with the car, since the alarm now handles this, tidied up the god-awful install job that was done on my e-Boost 2 controller, removed a bunch of wiring that went to nothing (last owner must have decided to remove whatever it was, but left the switches/wiring behind), he re-used some existing components from a previous alarm after testing them to be sure they worked fine (saving me money) and even tightened up the after market shifter nob that I had been too lazy to fix.

On top of all of that, each time I called him with some random question about the system, etc, he was always happy to provide answers.

So a big +1 to Chris at Audio Express, I can't recommend him highly enough.

    • Thanks for the linkie. Certainly always a great deal of help when people post comparisons like these, but I think for now I'll stay away from any semi slicks. I did go ahead and order the sportcontact 7. My buddy has them on his modified A4 and he keeps saying how good they are. For my intended purposes these will probably work real well. I'll report on them once I had the chance to try them out
    • Talk about noisy. Even when I still had the Tomei under the car I could distinctly hear the tires rolling. And I doubt I ever will need maximum grip like on a track. My GTR will maybe never even see the 600hp mark and I need to get used to the car quite a bit before challenging the limits of its handling. For the next winter storage I think I will get a set of these rubber drive-on thingies that have a tire shaped base. Those supposedly really help prevent flat spots.
    • Well our climate is definitely way less hot overall and the weather can be quite picky at times. I just know that during normal road use or even spirited drives there is no way I'd be able to consistently stay in the operating temperature, and constantly changing the tire pressure would also be a royal pain.
    • Input shaft bearing. They all do it. There is always rollover noise in Nissan boxes - particularly the big box. Don't worry about it unless it gets really growly.
    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
