i'm looking at installing a forward facing manifold.

i cant justify forking out over a grande for a greddy one, $o they are out of the que$tion.

i have noticed cheapish ones on ebay and was wondering if any one has used one? and can share their experience...

cheers,

hmmm id look at it this way... spend 1grand on the manifold now... or spend 250-550 on a ebay one then pay another 5grand when you have trouble with number 6 cyclinder

unless it has the trumpets in it then id stay away from the cheaper ones, pretty certain they lean out number 6?? someone else might know what im talking about...?

basically you want one that has been tested and proven to distribute the air evenly throughtout all cyclinders...

There are many many topics on this, at the end of the day if you want performance then there really isnt any gain as the standard will flow over 300rwkw, they look good tho, i would suggest waiting for a second hand greddy to pop up.

Will find lots more answers and specifics if you do a search.

OBTL

Bought the 200 dollar GReddy copy off ebay.

Had no problems with it, no leaks, water issues etc.

However, with the new engine i didnt cheap out and went plazmaman.

IMO, save up for an extra week or two and get the plazmaman, install is soo easy because you keep the stock runners and all the plumbing/wiring that is in there.

as above, no real issues, we machine the face of the intake so there wasn't a chance of leaks. also required some die grinding as there were large chunks of alloy casting still inside.

ya get what ya pay for..

350rwkw even :(

End of the day it looks like this:

- More attention from Police

- No majorly tangible performance again for most street cars.

- Potential risk of a "copy" coming over and end cost being ~$600 (once you get it fitted, cleaned up etc).

If you can't justify the cost of a decent, well proven item in terms of bolt on quality, then bang for buck you need to be looking at different things than plenums anyhow.

There are far better things to be spending money on, and as it sounds like you are on a tight budget - I'd be looking for things that will actually offer some much better benefits.

Better turbo, exhaust, brakes/suspension, perhaps even just a good all round service and changing all the oils for a nice reliability point of view.

Either way as stated this has been covered many times now and it basically comes down to the 3 points above.

i have one, had to have it machined though as it leaked like a siv.

i haven't had an issue since and i did notice quite a large drop in lag.

If you get one just have the surface machined, and clean out the ports with a die grinder and maybe look at getting it powercoated (for other potential leaks). you'll still be well under a grand.

thanks everyone for their input. i've pretty much come to the conclusion that i'm going to leave it stock, for now anyways.

if standards good for 300kw i dont think i need to worry about it. to be honest, i just wanted it to dress up my engine bay.

i'm just pissed i bought a stock 33 in the first place. with all the mods i've done, i should have put a new donk in a heavily modified one or got a gtr.

it$ all adding up but i'll get over it.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
