How to Intsall a Oil Catch Can on a RB20DET??

Recommended Posts

just plumb up the two cam breathers to a can of some description, use rubber/braid/silicone hose. Where the original hoses went into the plenum and inlet pipe are one way valves but i covered them up with rubber grommets regardless

When you did this did you have any problems with your idle dropping? Say about 2-300rmp. Because we just blocked the hoses, didnt use grommets because we were after a more 'stock (less attractive to the cops)' look. And now the barstard is idleing lower. Im just worried Im doing damage, and then more damage by turning up the idle to compensate.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Make sure you have some kind of vent on the can if you are plumbing up both hoses. If the system is sealed then you will pressuise the sump (which isn't good). You are better having the catch can venting back into the intake pipe as it is less likely to be defected and the car wont stick of oil when you are on boost.

dunno about the idle issue though

ive only had the catch can for a few weeks, but i havnt drained it ever, you dont have to drain if often from what i hear, it has a little level gauge on the side so i can see how much is in there,. i wasnt impressed with the Jap catch cans ,because there hollow, so i got this made for my car in perth,
