From memory there was a study done on the most common cars impounded from the hoon laws

Report: 46% Of Australia’s Impounded Cars Are Holdens

General Motors’ Australian Holden brand remains the choice of hooligans down under, as police in the Australian state of Victoria announced that 46% of cars impounded under their “hoon” laws. Ford is the second most popular with 16.7% of the impound share, while Nissan is third with 7.8%.

Nuff said really.

Get whatever car is comfortable for your needs, but if people want to wage the Holden vs Jap war, Bogans will support Holden/Ford. Tech savvy and more "learned" drivers will choose Jap.

I personally love V8's too, especially the GT Falcon from the 70's era, but most V8 drivers are narrow minded, and won't accept that a Holden or Ford is based on a FAMILY people sedan chasis.....

That study came out last month. I forget whether or not it was a market survey company or a uni. > radio and paper release.

ah yeah sweet.

if you told anyone that drove a holden im sure theyd reply with no thats not right! or yeah thats because there so fast and awesome!!

usage of the car will be. To and from work 15 min drive, umm just a sporty car that looks good, sounds good, and if I want can put my foot down every now and then, also I want to take it to tracks maybe once a month? And then just need it to get to the surf. So I spose I'd need high performance oil for when I do take it to the track etc.

from my experience, get something cheaper to run if you plan on hitting the track once a month!!!!

it will not be cheap!

and you'll get hooked and modify it too much before you know it its not the best car for the street and daily driving!!

im a fair tight ass because im saving for a house too. so there wont be any unnessasary purchases hah, i should be able to afford to run it easily, plus a few extra things here and there.

but i might idk. i figure ill have fun before i have a morage over my head. ill probly only want it for 2 years. then buy a newer non turbo sorta car.

That was my original plan too :P

But truth be told, my car's pretty stock on the mechanical side at the moment (I think). Just gotta do an engine out soon, or lift (long story, oil pumps are bastards to swap out)

haha i hope i can stick to the plan :D other wise ill be going to work in WA ;)

oh yeah? that sucks!! need a hand some time besides this weekend?? or need tools? warning i may ask alot of questions :)

Hey man, all good. If you're alive on Sunday pop around; I'll probably do an oil change so you can ask questions to your heart's content.

EDIT:: just saw the "other than this weekend" heh. Can probably hold off till the one after. Got a bracket to spec up anyway.

Oh, plus: Before texi, if you're comin, I'll link you to somewhere to get a helmet from; mine cost like $100 inc post with a spare visor, you'll need a helmet to be a passenger/driver.

so you are a tight arse, want to buy a skyline, do track days once a month while saving for a house? LOL

mate I hate to say it, cars are the worst money pits in the world!

but they are the best fun too haha

My advice is if you really want a skyline, buy one that has some good stuff on it - an r34 you can get for high teens low 20's with some good stuff on.

if you are like 95% of the forum members here...you'll modify it...and wont stop! its a curse!!!!!

hahahahaha i know im a little weird :P

i can always put less aside for a house, ill sort it out, im only 19 so its not heaps important.

yeah ill probly do that ay. ill just be patient when it comes to buying and get a bargain.

hope the old camry holds out till then :)

Not everyone is like that :)

Not everyone is a pedobear either. :)

If you want something to track once a month, buy a dedo track car, buy a Commodore for daily duties, get the track car setup for like improved production (So you keep it "stock") and just drive the doors off it!

My R33 GTS-t will most lkely be up for sale in Jan as I'm looking atspending a lot of time over seas.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
