They are getting out. I'm a pleb and the 6258 GTR kit we bought off the shelf. no special favours etc. ordered and paid for it and it turned up a week later. I know the big frame stuff is a different story but they are getting there.

lol. they should be awesome.

Consider this. look at the EFR range and consider the 9180 flows 94lb/min. a single 6258 flows 44lb/min I would say it's not unreasonable to expect them to produce 80lb/min combined in a twin GTR set-up. that's 800hp of air.

the car they are going on has run 2530s/-5s and made the usual 350kw or so. it's also run GTRS/-10s and made the usual 400+ kw but with typical surge down low that's a pig to drive through (even on the track).

I would like to think these will be close to the -10 power but with close to -5 response. I wouldn't be disappointed if they make a little less than the -10s but without the surge down low and with fat midrange.

I'm not sure if anyone else has bought a set from full race for a GTR apart from the one in the US they tested on. so this may be the first 'retail' set that goes out the door.

hope to have them arrive next week.

The other turbo I got from BW/FR is here and has already been pipped up etc and should be running very, very soon. it's the big boy 9180. another mate of mine has a 8374 coming soon so it'll be interesting to compare the 3. in power terms it goes 8374 then twin 6258 then single 9180. I'm keen to see if that's how it plays out in real life and what kind of power/response compromise we get. the only difference really is the 9180 is on a 3L the other 2 are both 2.6.

What 9180 did you get housing wise? Still waiting on mine, paid Nov 13 2010. Quite depressing so far. I am fabbing a 321 stainless manifold and will need it to complete the manifold. Guess we'll see. At this stage I can still see it being a LONG way away. Which, quite frankly, doesn't impress me too much.

totenkopf. it's a 1.05 twin scroll (ext gate). yeah we ordered last year too. I know BW have had production issues and I guess want to make things right before filling orders. hopefully they are worth the wait (I think they will be). hope you get yours soon mate. :)

Scott and I had a little behind the scenes chat. We cool...cheers.gif

Correct! Common ground met.

All is fair in love and war. We got to learn and clarify a few things and I got to push a few buttons when all I originally wanted to say was the 6boost collectors are sexy.

I blame STATUS, that prick he stated it. :whistling:

Anyone want to have a stab at the projected RWKW of the SR flavor of the month EFR?

Imagine how much quicker it would be with a Vipec! :whistling:

But back OT, from what your saying Mr Baron, you guys are seeing exceptional low rpm performance from the big 9180, so much so you would be happy to see more lag with a larger turbo. So realistically for someone such as myself also running a 3litre but only aiming for 550rwhp with a power ceiling around 600rwhp the extra expense of say an 8374 over a traditional t4 ts gt35/s300sx doesn't seem worth it (if you follow my logic). Obviously in a forum pissing contest it's a no brainer, but on the racetrack...?

yeah I see your logic. I guess for a 3L that's already going to achieve the power and response you want with a more basic TS turbo then sure there is not a huge advantage in the EFR, but you can have your power goal and even better response wouldn't you want it? in a street car it will be noticeably faster? the other option these give then is have the same response but more power by going up a size in turbo.

I still think the kick arse GTR set-up will be these twin 6258s. but the singles make an impressive set-up and simplicity of a single (even a twin gate TS one) is something to consider too.

I know, It was a bit tongue in cheek....My bad.

Yeah, If I had ordered a twin kit I would be rolling now, I'm waiting for a 8374 T4 .92a/r IWG.

....But we have 8" of snow in Christchurch yesterday, So couldn't drive the car anyway! haha

Crazy weather eh? I can see snow on the hills around me right now and I am in Welly ffs. Wellington wind is bad enough without throwing ice into it.

Hope something shows up for you soon enough man, quite keen to see how you find it after previous combinations :)

yeah it doesn't look like final set-up and complete testing will be done before WTAC due to a few snags along the way. but once done I'm sure BW and FR will want to make the results public. we've never published any dyno sheets etc from the car before but the way it performs on track is a pretty fair indicator of it's performance. so for now it's still work in progress....

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
