Yes, again... That is high octane fuel. I have been saying it will make over 700whp on higher octane than 98 the whole time.

Show me a 98RON result over 700whp on a Dyno Dynamics and I will happily admit in am wrong - but either way it is clear that the 8374 is a awesome performing turbo and I am trying not to overstate it's potential.

Another thing that don't seems to be discussed much is : What else do you need for a single to fit there ? custom 3 inch intake ? only one ? what you do with the twin maf setup ? I know the twin needs to relocated the PS reservoir, how about the single option ? and it also need, obviously, a custom 3 inch or 3.5 inch single exhaust ?

re-route, make custom water/oil lines for everything ?

bov built-in turbo = no more pssshh ? have your actual bov deleted ? Althought theses turbos have been out for 24 months approx. only very few setup are known ( after quite a few research on rb's forum)

4" at least. Twins run 2x 3"

only one ? Why would you need 2...

what you do with the twin maf setup ? You probably could run 2 intakes and mafs but why not run speed density instead

I know the twin needs to relocated the PS reservoir, how about the single option ?

Twins: relocated ps reservoir, r33 gtr ps pump, no AC (r34 compressor with custom lines maybe) and customs intakes.

Single: relocated ps reservoir, I forget if the r32 ps pump was ok or not, I think I heard the r34 AC is ok.

and it also need, obviously, a custom 3 inch or 3.5 inch single exhaust ?

3.5 minimum.

Yup. Twin kit runs about $500-800 in earls hoses/fittings for a clean fit. Single is 300-500

bov built-in turbo = no more pssshh ?

Yup, no ricer pssh pssh

have your actual bov deleted ? Would be pointless not to. Keeping it means more leaks are possible

Althought theses turbos have been out for 24 months approx. only very few setup are known ( after quite a few research on rb's forum) most people can't afford a turbo 4-8000 kit when there are much much cheaper options that are nearly as good.

Indeed the Garrett twins shuffle, due to the pipe design mostly. When I went with the HKS SPL pipping kit it 100% went away but the kit was like $1500 with intercooler pipes. Which is for sale now because I changed turbo setup.

We just need more people showing their EFR setups!!! So few show up on searches :(

Geoff, how's the latest r32 twin 6258 going (I think I heard you guys were working on one?)

the car we've been working on is the keeper's R34 GTR with 2.6L and twin 6258s (this is not a high reading dyno)

TwinRB.jpg

We also have an R34 and an R33 getting the same kit on 2.8L engines over the next couple of weeks. The only r32 gtr @ Full-Race is the front clip I bought to use for mockups.,, Perhaps you are thinking of Danh Tran's carbon R32 time attack machine? he is under the gun prepping for WTAC right now: https://www.facebook.com/danh.tran.10

Before the keeper's efr6258, he had -5 twins.. we tried many different piping configs and i dont see how its the pipe design that causes the shuffle... but if your experience got rid of it then great.

Edited by Full-Race Geoff

I guess I can't say the piping is the culprit but after changing the manifolds, dump pipes, downpipe and intake pipes it went away.

The tomei/hks treatment seemed to have worked. I dunno.

Ah, the keeper's r34 is the blue one? I recall seeing a video on a blue r34 with twin 6258s a few years ago I think, could be wrong, seemed to be on low boost doing a small 4th gear pull

-5's aren't so cheap now.... ;)

Yeah I dunno. With the hks pipes, turbos, hoses manifolds and outlets I recall I was still under $4k but that was chasing the optimal power and potential out of them.

But yeah they're old technology now haha..

Sure the engine is capable of that if the compressor and turbine can flow it and the fuel and setup don't become too knock limited, but an EFR8374 (particularly with his housing) will not allow that.

I don't want to be an asshole and disrespect Fullrace, but it seems like EVERY dyno showing efr's result on RBs always come with the discloser'' this dyno read really low'' '' insert an excuse for it to read lower''. After 2 years, can't we see a true actual dyno result or we will keep getting some sort of excuse ?

TBH, I had a GTR for 4 years, I think it ran great maybe 20% of the time, the other 80% there was something always wrong with it so I was never getting full performance of it. I think theres no point in trying to bring disclosure by saying it ',should'' perform 15-20% better. we rarely drive these car 100% perfectly running anyways.

My other comment would be great if you could make a complete kit instead of a kit that need more modification and fabrication.

^ starting to seem more and more like you're just saying random stuff to say that Borg Warners are over hyped with you real reasoning? You ignored the post up above about one making 630whp on pump gas, no excuses, and no need for excuses?

There are plenty of awesome results out there for them - where even if there is a compromise, the numbers still shit on a typical cast GT-series equivalent for the most part.

I didn't ignore the post above, but no sheet to prove anything, no info about cam, fuel setup etc, the post is not really useful in my book.

I still want to believe BW is the best turbos upgrade to get over precision turbo or any other maker. Like I always say, dyno only tell one side of the story, I don't even care about my own number, actually.

At first, I wanted to bit the bullet on a twin set of 6258 then my engine builder told me to go single. not to mention the +6000usd price of this kit and still need to supply P/S relocation , a/c, intake . so at this point, I'm just following the thread and see more result/review popping off.

And a later update for the same car with a stiffer spring and retune, still on pump gas - 470kw:IMG_1062.jpg

i dynoed my efr8374 evo on a dynojet, the chart shows ~45whp more than on BMR's dynamic testing dyno... and on a dynapack it had another 60whp. that qualifies it as a low reading dyno in my book. If you are basing the performance of an EFR turbo on a dynochart then you are selling yourself short -- they arent for dyno queens.

edit: lith, I agree chris's graph looks great, 300tq at 3100rpm .. not bad

So it went 600ish on dynojet and 700hp on dynapack by the above comment?

on west-coast USA 91 octane pump gas (very poor quality) my evo made made 440 on BMRs dyno, 483 on dynojet, and 497 on dynapack.

we put E85 in and retuned, on BMR's dyno it made 590whp @ 26psi but ran out of fuel pump (single walbro 416 on stock wiring). I will add a BAP so i can turn it up, and will bring it back to the dynojet/dynapack for a follow up comparison. only making a point that everyone comparing dyno charts from different dynos in different parts of the world and different fuels, the result will vary widely

edit: here is a screen shot from the evo on E85 fuel and GT3076R singlescroll @ 1.7bar vs E85 fuel and 8374twinscroll @1.4bar:

1208858_10151871790547527_1960298427_n.j

pretty neat to see how similar the spoolup is between the 2 despite the EFR being a much larger turbo

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
