The fixed camera's along the highway are not in use yet. I drive along there twice a week at 100kph+ (very early in the morning, hardly any cars at all) and have never received a speeding fine.

I wouldnt be so sure dude...

2 weeks ago I got a nice letter in the mail from Vic Police advising me that although they are currently not fining people, they caught my car doing 106 Kmh on the western ring road [outbound heading towards deer park / keilor]. The notice basically said: pending the outcome of the system testing I may or may not be fined :P

BEWARE! The cameras are still snapping away and you MAY still end up with a fine.

BTW, I will be around the Torquay area on the 28th for my Mum's birthday so if I can meet you guys somewhere along the way I will but I may be stuck at the beach havin a bbq and beer!

Have fun!

Its almost 10 bucks for a whole day pass... not worth it since we're only going on one if not two gantries (one way)

or you can get some other method where you pay normal gantry rates plus a $1.20 licence plate matching fee per gantry or something...

All in all, I've never needed to have one and I don't want to have to get one for this :P

And if you forget or whatever, then yeah its like a $100+ fine

Snowmans route takes us through citilink?

How much does it cost

Dont we get a fine if we dont have one...

seems to be the case...but i guess if people dont have etags nor want to buy day passes then there are otherways to get there just like the last GOR cruise :P

Anyone else in S/E that plan on going but don't have an E-tag?

Snowman's route takes you on the Citylink and I refuse to get an e-tag based on principle :(

Otherwise I might have to go solo until I get to one of the other meet points ;)

I used to feel the same way about the Citylink mate until I used it for the first few times. It still shits me paying but it makes travelling so much easier and quicker. I went from Officer to Calder Park today and it took me less than 50 mins.

Alan

I dont have an etag, so will prob be heading down toorak rd if thats ok. What the official route? Can i get a pm or email about it?

Daz- i can also pick you up if you want a ride in a almost stock 32

I wouldnt be so sure dude...

Yeah, that's on the Ring Road. I'm talking about the Princess Freeway. The camera's along there were not activated before they had the calibration issues with all the other camera's in Victoria.

For the SE no-eTag people:

Go with Snowman's team but exit at Toorak Rd.

Head up the hill toward the city - I'll be waiting at the Shell servo in Sth Yarra.

Follow me to rejoin freeway off Kings Way - and catch up to the other group.

Also...

Anyone going through the tunnel, may these photos lead to some inspiration ;)

If there is a few of us not wanting to take Citylink we could go in together...

but re-joining Snowman (and citylink people) would be a bit hard unless there is another stop point, then that would mean they would have to wait.

The easiest thing is (non-citylink people) probably leaving a bit earlier.

it is not $10 for the sections you are using. E-Tag's aint that hard to use/work out.

you can pay by section, or get a day-pass.

please yourself. They aint 'THAT' bad.

You have upto 3 days from travel to pay for your useage. So you'd have till Tuesday to pay at any citilink branch, Shell Servo... and a number of other places.

As clarkey said, he hated it once, so did i.

But if you dont want to go e-tag... i suggest you leave much ealier from the meet point. All the by-roads that need to be taken etc.

But at the end of the day.... what is $5-$10 when your going to be buring over $50 in fuel, food and everything else?

seems pretty trivial doesnt it?

Ok, enough of speed camera's.

If people wanna speed on the free-ways, dont whinge when you get a letter in the mail.

end of story.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
