I'm in the process of organizing a very restricted photoshoot at one of the Airport's in the metro area. no confirmation of location,Date/time or Aircraft type yet.

I'm looking for the best of each model to represent the Local Skylines, right now I'm restricting it to aprox. 6 local cars, and a few standby

GTR models of course will be first preference , depending on responses

can you voice your interest to see if its worth my time to do it, please???

I can narrow it down once confirmation of dates etc. is given. near Christmas is all I know. so far.

RULES

no rubbish cars please, if it has zip ties or duct tape holding it together save it for another time , sorry no race cars with the exception of R35 models only

you will sign a waver of damage liability and MUST have Full insurance on your cars, all photos will be copyright with limited use by car owner only unless permission in advance, No hooning/acting foolish or representing yourself in a disrespectful manner to anyone involved , speed limits around aircraft/tarmac, walking speeds only

you will not touch the Aircraft or any other equipment without the owners persmission

only one car on the tarmac at a time , possible shoot of all the cars lined up in the end time permitting

time limits will apply per car. target is less then 2 hrs tops for all the car shots.

no other photos will be allowed without permission first, Video of the shoot is open for discussion

prescreened female models welcome to attend, tasteful but sexy clad of course(over 18 only ID required ) and must sign model waiver

each car owner will get a DVD Disk of photos containing useable final production shots in very HI RES, JPEGS only

cheers

Troy

i can understand all the liability stuff, no stress. planes aint cheap. and getting a runway aint easy.

but 'all photos will be copyright with limited use by car owner only unless permission in advance'... whats the point of the shoot then? to add a couple pretty pictures to someones portfolio at the expense of 6 peoples time?

i dont see why the participants cant use the photos of their cars (perhaps with the photographers watermark) where ever the hell they please.

limited due to

if a person walks over to a shop and they want 10,000 copys and puts in shops for sale ? is that fair to me , no ?

the car owner would have access to do what they want with the photos, except offer them for sale or commercial print/web without permission in advance

standard stuff for photos Dave ???

since the photos would be able to be blown up to a poster size with degrading in quality ? low res copys no so fussed. but I'm trying to jimp thru hoops to get a spot , aircraft, and of course you can't use ADL for photos without Federal permission escorts etc. so don't even ask if thats the location.

plus the aircraft/Airport owner has a say in it as well ???

I'm not doing it for profit or gain in anyway. just offering some for future use on SAU (promo stuff or ?)? if the owners don't want photos in possibley one of the hardest places on pavement to get photos then they don't have to say yes ? not forcing anyone

plus this might end up to be a charity promo for kids , depending on a few things still ? ( gold coin )

if I don't get enough people interested then I'll just do my own car ? just thought I should offer the option to SAU mates ????

always antaganist aren't you..hahahah

i was simply asking about the very final wording in your rules (new explanation is much'o'better). i dont even bother thinking about the standard 'cant use in your own advertising, cant print and sell, etc' but anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together knows shit like that, maybe its just me, but the way you worded it originally made is seem as if it was 'you cant even look at the photos of your damn car without our say so', if you get my meaning.

i once knew a guy who fancied himself a photographer who worded shit like that, he'd jump and down screaming bloody murder until he was blue in the face if someone so much as linked a photo of his to a build thread, hence my asking i guess.

antagonism and nihilism go hand in hand. but yes, its one of my many skills.

I guess we are going to the RAAF base

im gonna go ahead and say 'not likely'. i have enough trouble get one other person on base, 6-12+ would be a f**king nightmare, and i daresay they simply wouldnt allow it.

+1 on that, probably be parafield at a guess

you must also wear the colour undies that troy advises...

any other colour undies will NOT be tolerated.

just thought id add another rule to the list.

why no race cars? its not that i care....., just some of the toughest looking R's in adelaide

are track only......

better looking than stock 34s anyway.

need a federal permit at Adelaide airport?

*puts work photos away*

they get fussy if the see you driving on the tarmac without escorts...lol

and are cracking down on photo's, depending on locations taken... paranoid since 9/11

race cars would be allowed if I can't find enough cars, but then it brings tralers and more time to unload etc into it.

it could be in the evening inside a hanger , so we can wet the floors down to have good reflections off the car/plane

plane could range from Biplane to private jet or old fighter.

the RAAF would be cool next to a F111,F18 or the new F22 that australia bought but I wouldn't hold my breath for that....lol

any controlled airfield needs permission to enter, parafield is included

spoke to the aviation museum already about it

could do a cruise to the shoot depending on location etc.? (or close by if others wanted to do photos afterwards ?)

I parked near a gate on the far side of the airport just off Marion Rd to take photos of my old R33... it didnt take long for Federal Police to rock up and shoo me away.

And then another time me and my mates cruises around and parked there just to chill and a few minutes later Federal Police rocked up and shoo'd us away. They're pretty quick!

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
