ant - it is registered in qld so you might be right

bob - why would an aust delivered gtr have a private import plate on it if it was sold locally?

Oh...... Sorry, the penny just dropped. I didn't realize we were talking about the same car.

That's really weird. We should ask him what it is.

My apologies for jumping to conclusions as we know the car is an ADM. You are right, I haven't seen it on any other ADM either.

Bob.

PS: Second best colour..............

you know what they say about owners with fast red cars?

Hi guys,

Apologies for not replying earlier. Here's a shot of my GTR's identification plate. According to the Chassis no. it is number 9 of 50 from the first batch.

Will get more pics and more details when time permits.

Hi Brad,

There is a sneaky early number that appears later in the range so many people (including myself) all thought their cars were one build earlier than they actually are.

If you check my attached list I think you will find that your car is actually build number 10.

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the clarification! I was going off the Nissan Dealer Network Bulletin PDF that was floating around.

Now a little bit about the car.

The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and I believe the work was done at Kevin Bartletts Workshop(around the 2002-2004 timeframe, I bought the car in late 2004).

I'm not 100% sure what was done but I do know the following parts were put in : N1 water pump, N1 oil pump, baffle sump, turbos were rebuilt and hi-flowed, some suspension work, apexi-powerfc, electronic boost controller, pod filters.

I've done some minor things since owning it: SARD injectors(the old ones were leaking), Z32 AFMs(the original ones were faulty causing the car to go into limp mode), Splitfire coilpacks(the old ones were arcing).

Cheers,

Brad

closer pics of that plate above the engine are required. the one on the left is the standard japanese build plate on every GTR I've seen

Hi Duncan,

Well the chassis number is one of the numbers on Nissan Tech Bulletin, but fair point.

Here you go.

Hi Brad....to be clear, I was not questioning the authenticity of the car, just pointing out the blue plate on the left is on every GTR. There was a discussion around the other blue plate above the motor and what it covers (not the nissan build plate you have posted up either).

What is on the other blue plate above the motor? I don't remember having seen one of those before

Hey there Duncan,

No dramas at all. I don't have any other plates, the blue one in the photo is on the left side and the other two plates are on the right side but there is nothing above the motor. Will confirm it tonight.

Cheers,

Brad

ive been thinking about why that silver gtr has an import plate above the engine cover & here is my synopsis:

taking into consideration that kerry packer owned this car, he 'may' have ordered his adm gtr from japan & delivery took place before they were actually complied to be sold locally - maybe or maybe not?

I've just ordered mine from www.pitstop.net.au but I think this is a must for all of us!

Thanks...... Bob.

Pitstop bookstore in Perth as recomended by your link. Excellent speedy service. One of the interesting things from reading is the Gibson racing cars were not from the "100" but made from shells sent from Japan. Great read. Thanks,

Rob.

    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
