that doesnt make it legal, if you are running another intake mod already ie. front mount that box wont save you from anything. Not sure where your from but in vic anyway.

if you have ONLY a pod filter you dont HAVE to box it for any other purpose then heat soak, which for day to day use is barely worth losing sleep over.

+1 i agree with alex...not worth it..i was think of making one myself...but when my mate done his and th rouble he went through to do it, it wasnt wroth it and it made hardly any difference..

also about it being legal, if the cops know what they looking at, they can easly ask you to show whats inside the box...if there is a pod, bam they will get you for it....well thats what i know....can be wrong...

Fair enough, so what could i do for a cold air intake system without cutting holes?

I've tried putting the pod behind the front bar but when it rains the pod becomes wet.

If anyone has any previous experiences/setups let me know cheers.

like james mentioned, check the DIY secition and the guy with username WYTSKY made on for his car and i am pretty sure the cops didn give him troubles...if you not as much of a handy man, i think he can make you one for some extra cost...

just use the factory airbox?

solves your problem, works perfectly fine, and then let's you run a FMIC.

win win win really.

^^ What Ash said or,

Remove the heat shield or make hole in the heat shield and put your stock cold air take back on so it feeds air to the pod.

If you feel the need to still have a pod on.

Hi and thanks but wont it be illegal to have a front mount and pod ?

to what i know it is...thats why just get a standard air box...they work perfectly like ash said...his car is a rally quick track car and he uses standard (i think) coz they are better...i have spent money into going standard...so if you are spending money and dont have standard box go standard...otherwise leave it standard... ;)

I've got a proper made one had it for 2 years now and i havent got harrassed. its not legal no because techically your hiding youd Pod filter or one of ur supposed 2 intake mods second being your cooler or CAI. u get caught go put airbox back on and done.. if u have one

Nice mod Arthur...but if you're going to do that, you might as well just use a panel filter? I though the whole point of the pod was to have a loud intake sound...is that any louder than the factory airbox?

LOL NICE.. shine torch down their though gg

Yeah am in process of trying to make some plastic covers as u can just see the filter poking out,

Also to cover the old cooler pipe holes..Bit trickier than i first anticipated, but ill get there..

Edit 4 birds..yeah bottom of airbox is cut out, you can hear it and it draws air from the holes underneath where the cooler pipes used to be as well as the snorkel..I ran it for a bit with panel filter and box stock but it didnt feel as quick..

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
