Anyone else think Nando just kept hitting button until it opened the flap?

It is a bizarre explanation that DRS opened after the corner. This seems to suggest that it closed for the turn and magically re-opened for the next. Unlikely he ran with it open into the turn at the end of the straight.

On hard tyres & no KERS vs all cars around him on the grid with soft tyres & KERS.

he had KERS until end of his second stint. And even in that second stint on his nice shiney new softs, he couldn't pass the Sauber or Force India who were right in front of him.

No, but no one likes Kiwis :P

Put it this way, I saw Webber grab his first points back in the minardi and Ill see him get his last in a Red Bull.

Personally I like his attitude.

and from my standpoint, I enjoy watching races and I like most drivers, except a select one or two.

Nah I don't think Webber is the second coming, but I don't use every possibility to put shit on him either.

It's just tall poppy syndrome, which is pretty rife in Australia.

don't see where I put shit on him. just pointing out the facts.

to be honest, Webber fans shit me to tears. If he doesn't do well there's a myriad excuses and cospiracy theories, then when he does OK its all down to him being the greatest, not the team's pit strategy, which in this case made 10 of the 15 positions for him.

It's more or less implied or outright stated in alot of peoples posts.

Now I'm not "sticking up" for Webber because boy was that qualy session was one major f**kup.

Just sick of hearing people rag on him because he IS Australian.

Lot of people on here are seriously jelly I think.

anyway.

Have you ever seen a raced or listened to the commentry.

Talk about Fanbois ?

the Lewis Hamilton cheer-squad are pretty much the biggest in the world, and they all follow their leader, James Allen.

don't see where I put shit on him. just pointing out the facts.

The "facts" can't be viewed objectively if you already have a negative viewpoint (nor if you have an overly positive viewpoint).

lol, nobody here is saying the Webber is the greatest nor even the most talented nor fastest driver in the field.

Yep, it is great to see an Aussie run with the top drivers in the premier auto racing competition... why the hell wouldn't it be?

I like his attitude and frankness much more than just hearing the same shit that most of the other drivers regurgitate.

This makes me want to see/hear from him more.

Yes, the pit strategy was a definite benefit, but how the hell can you imply that he did not provide us with an absolutely awesome drive?

Even DC and Brundle were saying how "mighty" his drive was.

Are you telling me that both drivers have equal opportunity at RBR?

Webber haters shit me to tears.

Actually he didn't have KERS at all but keep selectively leaving out facts to support your case if you have to.

I like MW just fine, he is hardly the second coming of christ and he is hardly the worst driver in the field. He has worked his arse off, he has also had lots of luck, he has also had lots of bad luck, he had a charmed existence in Australia in karting days to get him to Europe ahead of more talented karters (at that stage) due to support from his family. He has been hamstrung by his frame as well.

There are no prizes for guessing that F1 does not attract the best drivers in the world, it attracts the best, richest, midgets. All get there due to support from somewhere, rarely is it on talent alone.

The last race worked out despite the poor qualifying, nothing more nothing less. Good on him for getting a good result out of a bad position.

It seems for MW he is damned if he does well, he is damned if he doesn't.

The "facts" can't be viewed objectively if you already have a negative viewpoint (nor if you have an overly positive viewpoint).

like the "facts" the only reason he only couldn't pass the backmarkers was because he had no KERS and was on hards vs their softs? which were both wrong. he reported his KERS not working on lap 24. And he spent the 14 laps before that stuck behind a Sauber and a Force India while they were all on softs.

That's not me with a negative viewpoint. that's what happened in the race. You and wolverine on the other hand, just got all carried away with the webber excuse book.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that both drivers don't have the same equipment at RBR. The fact he was the fastest car in the race by 1.4 sec shows there was nothing wrong with his car during qualifying. its parc ferme between then and the race apart from fuel, and tyre choice for those outside the top 10.

I think it was a good drive, but the facts are the passes he made (not counting the ones that re-passed him on the track) were:

Petrov on hards with Mark on Softs. Not awesome. Schumacher passed Petrov easier a lap earlier.

Schumacher: Mark blew past him up the straight due to a much faster car and DRS. A couple of guys nursing worn out tyres after 2 stopping and a guy even people with stuffed tyres passed because he was trying not to run out of fuel.

It was a good drive, but far and away the main factors were awesome pit strategy (something the Weber apologists often quick to blame when he doesn't do well) and better rubber than everyone else.

if he had no KERS at all, his radio message to the team that he had no KERS on lap 24 seems quite strange.

Where did these "fact" come from?

I don't recall saying anything about why he couldn't pass back markers.

I would love to see him drive the whole race in the same manor he did the second half of it.

The KERS not working radio call came though mid-race, yes, but it was the drive thereafter that was so great to watch.

    • I mean, I can confirm the TPS is at 100%.... I can confirm when we installed the TB and setup the cable that the TB was indeed fully open at max pedal travel.. the same 'curve' (WRT MAP vs MAP) existed with the previous setup/TB/manifold as well... No, we did not do a run with no intake connected. I would love to go back in time to do such a run to rule out the intake. It would have also been good to do a run with the airbox lid off. There's a test there where increased IAT vs more available air could be a positive tradeoff. I remember taking the lid off my R34 Turbo setup back in the day and noticing a monster increase, even if IAT's did go up. Could be similar. Hard to test unless I find a very deserted road.
    • That's actually encouraging to be honest. my motor was rebuild many years ago but it's probably done less than 30,000kms and fucc all limiter or drift, majority street / drag / roll racing. It'll be fine 💪🏼 I don't even have lines or a can for the cam breathers installed yet, there is zero oil residue or splatter on or around them, it drives beautifully so it seems healthy. Just a ticky lifter, yet they're almost brand new oem genuine Nissan and haven't done many kms at all...
    • Have you confirmed the throttle body goes to WOT (and stays there) during the run?
    • I'm having a problem. I think it was mentioned above somewhere but can't see it.  I'm stuck in the cycle of, sand, filler, low spot again, put filler, sand, low spot again, now i put filler again and a thicker portion which seems to have helped but I got low spots in other areas. In the image. Circled in red thats where the original low spot was and the shape is the same as the red out line. I've more or less fixed that (still low spot up the top but now I have low spots where the green circled part is.  Is likely the issue that I didn't start with a course sand paper? I sanded the filler with 240 to reduce the risk of not going to far but maybe the issue is that I'm only taking off enough material to remove some of the filler but not the high spots. I now started sanding with 120 and I think I'm seeing a difference. I did fix one dent the other 2 are f**ked and seems like I made another low spot which is indicated by the furthest green circle on the left handside. Any thoughts and solutions?   Also second image. All of these rock chips, can they be filled in with primer or do i need to fill them all with filler/putty? So many rock chips on mine lol.
    • Well, I had an Edward Lee's special edition odo windback car/motor with a RB25DET S2 and I put down 372kW with a good amount of track abuse for 1.5 years before the ring lands decided it didn't want to stick around anymore 🥲 But probably didn't help I kept on smashing try limiter on the track and a few skid pans.
