If anyone is keen on doing some Remote races, let me know, my B-spec drivers need a kick in the pants.

And i got my bluetooth headset delivered the other day, so i can actually pick the right car for the right races now :nyaanyaa:

I'll get some going tomorrow......sorry I have not been on.......had on operation on my knee two weeks ago and I cannot get into my drivers seat.

P.S. And yes I could use a controller but I am really really really really really really really really really really crap with it as I have never used one for racing!

If I can find something similar to that which can also be folded up for storage, then that would be awesome. I'm pretty sure there are some out there that do, it's just a matter of looking for and finding one.

I know this is a super old post, but if you haven't bought anything to mount your wheel set-up then I have the solution for you.

http://www.wheelstandpro.com/

it's great. very sturdy, lots of adjustment, holds everything nice and firm and you can use it on the couch, in a chair or whatever. and it folds up neatly in about 2 seconds. not too expensive either at around $200 delivered. I had a custom made set-up with race seat (used the carbon cobra evolution out of my 32) etc but they are just so farken big they either get left in the living room taking up heaps of space, or you pack them away and then cbf getting them back out again. this is much more elegant. I just fold mine down flat and it tucks under the coffee table, the wheel and pedals stay permanently attached. I'm using it with just a logitech GT wheel and it's actually a very nice set-up.

this one is another option, but more $$ and much harder to buy in aus. http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=220〈=en

could be not too bad if you order it to an address in the US and use a freight forwarding service to send to aus. but by the time you pay for it to be sent and pay the fowarding/shopper fee it'll probably still be $250+

where as wheel stand pro you can order from the .com site or they have a .com.au site (but I found it faster from the .com site, though it's a few $ cheaper if you get it from the .com.au shop). I think the way it uses a cam level to fasten the bars is better too. certainly quicker and easier to adjust and means you can fasten it farken tight.

anyone been playing online lately? oh thats right NO ONE CAN!!!!

lol so rekon they will start to charge for online playing like xbox live?

i think the charges will help 'secure' your details and i guess employ new online people (that they fired 200+ of) and firmware writers to stop CFWs.

lol.....stirring up a hornet's nest aye!!!!

hahah yup!!

how long has it been down for now?

i bet all the playstation fanboys have excuses too. im just waiting for them........

It's been down since the 25th!

No excuse's bud!

Let's compare my experiences between Consoles though:

XBOX

*Work buy's Xbox.....after 3 weeks of hardly any play it get's the ring of death for the first time...sent away to fix for 2 week's........get it back and at about the 8 month mark it shit's itself again.....send it away for 2 weeks. So on top of having to pay for online usage I had the added pain in the arse breakdowns and shipping. Might also add that most people I know have had the ring of death experience!

PS3

*I buy PS3 on release date......after 31231231236876483124658hr's of use online/offline it still has not shit itself and nor have my mates ones.......only after how ever many year's since it's release has it been hacked into through a Microsoft productwacko.gif.....Oh and I have never had to pay to use the online Network!

Wii

* Purchased it about a 2 years ago....it's the kid's console so you can imagine the treatment it get's....has never stopped working!

Not to mention GT5 shit's all over Forza as a driving game for those of us that do know how to drive! nyaanyaa.gif

I was waiting for someone to bring that up...

GT5 is a better driving game, but I think Forza is a better racing game.

Sure, the physics are technically better in GT5, but I almost think they should move towards picking some great driving roads and exploiting what they're best at. The most enjoyable drives I've had in GT5 have all been on those old school windy driving road style tracks. Put it on a racetrack though and the GT5 races just lack something.

That and I like the more advanced tuning and modding capabilities of Forza.

My XBox only shit itself once, and sure that was a pain in the arse, but since then its fine. My PS3 experience was worse... pick it up and take it home to setup when GT5 came out, turn it on "need an update". Updates aren't optional on XBox, where if you don't do them you can play locally but just not online, they're mandatory. This updating process continued when I tried to run GT5, and I think all up I waited an hour or two before I could play GT5 because of these damn updates!

Updates are a pain but GT5 was the problem with the update's you talking about.....not the PS3! Problem was that GT5 was not correct on release which I personally recon was a poor effort on both PS3 and Poly's part! You also don't have to do the updates on the PS3 but as per the Xbox you wont be able to get online either!

Nah becacuse it was a brand new console, I had to do a console update, then a GT5 update, then another GT5 update. Painful...

I couldn't work out how to avoid the updates on the PS3, if I didn't do them it wouldn't let me even play the game!

Oh you PS3 haters are just Jelly that you have to pay for online services

If this happened to you, you guys would be loosing your shit!

I sold my 360 for a PS3, only thing I miss is Forza.

of course GT5 is better than Forza 3!! im happy to admit that. but it only took them 4 years to release it.

sony right now are in the bad books, after all the hacking crap they are cracking down on, badly made products (not the PS3, but it has its YLOD) and now this PSN hack, its not looking good at all. plus the price of the PS3 will never come down now, they need to recoupe the losses they will be experiencing.

i have to admit the updates on playstation are a PITA. they take forever to install, not to mention download!!

1. All good thing's come to those who wait

2. I agree with the pricing.....I'm prepared to pay a little more for the better things.....that's why I have an M35 and not a C34!!! jk's

3. some they do some they don't!

to be honest its missing MANY thing that should be in a racing/driving game. i was pretty disappointed when i first played GT5.

its not a better console, besides a few games unique to each platform, they are pretty much the same. they all do 1080p

Yeah I was disappointed with GT5 at first. Found it too boring and clinical. Found Forza more entertaining.

GT5 is more engrossing the more you get into it, but Forza was still more fun.

Forza 4 is coming out later this year, can't wait!

yup also cant wait for Forza 4!!!

should be a GT5 beater.

i really need a wheel and pedals. wish i had the room tho!

i might convert the spare M35 driver seat i have into a driving seat for the console. that would be awesome!!

hahahah and then add about 1.4 tonnes to the racing car your driving and you'll have a real time experience.

    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
