Aaron, don't quote your exhaust as a "JASMA cat back system" as those who don't know it is a Kakimoto R may try searching for a "Jazma" brand exhaust.

If a cat-back has JASMA accreditation in Japan, it just means that when held at 3000rpm, the exhaust sound is under 95dB.

Yeah, it is about the same volume as a Fujitsubo Legalis (~90dB) and a touch louder than my Nismo

If you really want quiet, you just cannot beat a Blitz NUR for NM35's.

sorry sir. please dont beat me with your bohemath like hands

I find it makes a fair difference on mine, dare I ask are you sure you opened it up the whole way? bigkevracer was in my car for half the SA Stagea cruise on the weekend and thought the exhaust sounded like it almost had a slight leak at 2-2.5k RPM when on the highway cruising..I dropped it into silent and I think the reaction was basically a 'Well, yep. That switch is definitely working, and you definitely dont have a leak'. Stealth mode ftw :ninja:

sorry mate i should mention i only have the rear muffler on the car. the mid one is still the big stock one. hence why it didnt make a HUGE difference. however it has a nice note to it! and a nice rumble at idle :)

stephen was running his the entire time with the valve closed, i never heard it with the valve open!

pipster, keeping the car quiet is exactly what i want it for. i dont give a crap about performance. thats what opening it again does :)

I can vouch for that. Totally astounded that an exhaust I could see through was as quiet as stock. It is louder at the back when you get up it, which is nice, & deeper at idle, which is also nice :), but mainly I noticed that the induction noise dropped way down (not sure of science behind this) so overall NVA is reduced when driving normally. There's no doubt that Japanese exhaust designers/manufacturers know their craft.

I have before & after videos which I will post on the exhasut thread soon for those interested.

yes please Leon!!

also mention if you have a dump/front pipe too with the videos

yeh i noticed my exhaust became a little louder and "tinny"(if that describes it) when i put on scotts Dump.

i'de like to see a video tooo leon!

Yep, will get onto it. Might get my daughter to compile & subtitle them since that's not really my thing. I should actually do one more so that I have:

a) totally stock - with the centre muffler that's the size of Iain's villa, lol

b) with Scotty's dump pipe and Blitz cat back, but still with 2.5" front pipe & cat

c) as it is now with 3" front pipe & hi-flow cat installed (I need to video this one still).

I even got the measuring tape out so that each video was recorded at 50cm from tip. Otherwise it's impossible to compare sound levels from one to the others. Mmm, reading this back makes me seem a bit OCD or autistic .

i might follow in your OCD Path and do it at 50CM away lol

Yeah buddy, do that. I'd love to hear the difference. Hold it just off to the passenger side. My son held it almost straight on the first time & the lens fogged up with the moisture pinch.gif.

Although, different cameras will have different microphones so it won't be a really accurate comparison.

my villa is pretty big dude, and i have double garage. so i dont know how big your muffler is :P

No offence  . I am just remembering you saying recently that the centre muffler on your car (same as mine) was "as big as your house". Now that today we have established you live in a villa, I just thought I'd be more accurate. Again, part of my autism, lol

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
