I was partying on a cruise boat, it was sweet.

Its a big chain of events, we cant give prices yet as we dont know exactly what the shirts are costing, we didn't know what the shirts were going to cost for ages because we didnt have all the sponsors and their logos, we didnt have all the sponsors and their logos because nothing ever goes right, and so on and so forth. Its always something waiting on something else. But now its sorted :P

Posting on the forum is not a measure of participation or effort. If that was the case, chaos would be running the official SAU club singlehandedly :D

I dont even post that much, but I know sponsors phone numbers off by heart because i've spent time building good relationships with them and making sure they are good at what they do and will look after us.

maybe you should run like a poll or something to get a show of hands "who would be willing to participate in regular SAU Queensland club?". And maybe at a suggested membership rate when it goes ahead.

That willl give you a good idea of the numbers you are looking at, and also the likely budget you will have to get all this stuff done? It will also give you a good idea of the sorts of activities that can be planned and things like that.

Just a suggestion?

Just on the regular Thursday meets there have been 20 or so cars, which has been great -- and its been "revolving" a little so that some haven't been able to make it, but others have turned up to make up for it. So there are quite a few out there that will be interested in the official QLD club i think.

True. But this is "skylinesaustralia". Perhaps some participation from the chiefs is needed...

Maybe a meeting / club update every now and again ala the VIC guys would help... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=35451

And can you clue us in on the sponsors yet???

Personally i enjoy coming along to thursday nights .. it gives me time to socialize with my 'own kind'

however i have been a part of clubs myself the past few years .. and im no longer interested in being apart of a club.. however i would still like to spend time with other skylines.

how does not being a member effect this?

Hey there Guys,

The company rep who is doing the shirts will have the final price on the shirts by the end of the week, I managed to keep the cost down by getting the artwork done for free, this usually costs between $70 and $90 per sponsor patch... that just saved over $500. Took a little bit of time but it was worth it....

We have some major sponsors and we have some smaller guys but ALL will really look after you in terms of price and quality of work.

Some of the sponsors have yet to sign off on the final details so for that reason all sponsors will be told to you all in the next coming week or so, we just want it all on paper. Some of the deals you will all be able to get are great.. Like polished front mount intercoolers for $500 new, and yes they are of quite good quality. We have tuning workshops, parts people, upgrade specailists, import yard, and even a national chain. I think you should all be happy with the result.

Once the Shirts are made the launch date will be announced, it will be a full day event and hopefully you will all be able to make it.

I will keep you all informed of the progress as it happens.

Cheers

Gary

I dont mean to be the shit stirrer in the group but it seems i have that name since i first joined over a year ago. In a previous update thread (some months ago) we were told that the club was only a few months away and we would have regular updates. To which this is the first update since that thread. Now you can go on all you like about me not owning a skyline or whatever but i do still try and participate in club organised events and donate to the club when i can and i just re-read slips post before and i see im meantioned in a good way this time and i didnt even notice slip was gone. Im not bagging you (slip) for not posting on here as much as i do (which seems to have picked up lately) and i didnt know u were on a cruise till a few weeks ago, but im sure everyone here is anticipating in when this club will finally be off the ground. I was talking with Dave last Thursday about the supposed regular updates that were supposed to happin and we were both disapointed that this was not held too, and so be it you may bring up i dont own a line im only 18 and i spend most of my time on here speech and if you wish to do that fine but dont cut me down like you did last time. I am a person and yes i do have feelings and i thank those who stood up for me. I welcome any replies to this post aslong as they have some meaning.

Ben

Chaos - i just typed a long ass reply and it didnt make sense to myself so i deleted it. :)

I didnt know you didnt drive a skyline, and im not going to hold that agenst you .. because ive been there ive done that and ive always been 'not cool enough' to hang with the big boys..

you try owning a commodore and hanging around with a bunch of 180sx's .. can anyone spell OUT CAST!

But i see what your saying here, even though im not interested in joining the club at this stage, i would like to see it up and running.. but when?

Ill leave it there before i continue to confuse myself ;):D lol

Hey chaos, you gotta remember that slip and Gary probably have lives that dont revolve around SAU and they are giving up their spare time and doing a lot of running around and organising in their own time, so yeah it's taken them a while but are you going to pay them a full time wage so that they can quit their repesctive jobs and do the organising full time?

I am not trying to put you down or bag you in any way, these guys are probably doing the best that they can, so why not just be patient?

EDIT:

OH Forgot "and their own expence" too :( I dont know how much running around they have done, but since we have not yet paid any membership fee's, any phone calls, visits to potetial sponsers, organising the t-shirts, everything is coming straight out of thier pockets atm.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
