I think you will find there will be alot more to getting the defect off then just changing the bov and boost controller.

Your in for a full inspection so dont expect to get it through on the first try,

just to give you an idea. The 400r front bar you have the indicators are to close together and they could fail you for that (happened to my old R33).

or you could just sell it to me for 2 grand and ill have a cheap track car :ninja:

I will offer you 2.5K :ninja:

I went through regency last week and they aren't that bad. Just show them a bit of respect and don't assume they know nothing (because they do - I watched very closely what they inspected on my car) and you should be alright. Don't feel too bad if you have to go back a second time, I did, but was only $150 parts and labour to fix up.

well they give you a checklist of what needs to be improved/returned to stock etc for the second time around. so for the second check just the things on the list sorted out and you will be laughing

I will offer you 2.5K :ninja:

Damn, by the time its of defect Im thinkn im gonna have to spend 800-1000 to get it on the road so no deal buddy, ill find out tomorrow morn from my mechanic he knows what hes doinhe goes to regency regularly for defected cars and interstate ring-ins so he reckns shell be fine

Took the old girl down to my trusty mechanic today, had a good look over and he reckons shes in excellent nick he couldnt spot anything wrong underneath or in the engine bay besides blow off valve and boost controller, also boost gauge in dash isnt connected, looking at about 500-800 bucks, also he said part of the front spoiler is cut out to make room for intercooler, but hes got a stockie to get her past, still havent decided if I wanna sell it, will make decision once I drive it for a bit. goin on holiday so ill be pickn her up on the 9th Feb garunteed passed and ready for rego!!

Front mount intercooler has to go (not a stock item ) , exhaust not stock so that goes aswell .

Bars are torsion bars to stop the body from twisting .

completely incorrect.

front mount intercooler on mine passed no problems. exhaust on my car was a full 3.5" trust exhaust system with a minor adjustment it passed with 89db at 3200 rpm as for the bar's don't know much about them but by what i have gone through you should be ok :D

Pretty much any intercooler is bigger than the stock side-mount - if you have a front-mount, that's a 'bigger intercooler' (and you can see the front-mount in the pics). A bigger fuel pump doesn't mean much either, lots of them have died from sheer age - so have usually been fitted with larger aftermarket items. Keep in mind that - in general - modifications do not increase the value of a car.

I personally wouldn't have thought the car worth that much, especially in that condition - but hey, a car is only worth what someone will pay for it. Imports have plumetted in value in the last few years ..

It looks pretty f**king clean to me?! Just engine bay needs a spray and it's cleaner then most other skylines I've seen.

Yeah I agree. Plenty of POS 33's getting around - doesn't really look like one.

+1 for front mounts being fine, just took mine through with one.

10-12k easy dont listen the the sharks out there

keep it, enjoy it, track it

it cost you peanuts so why not modify the ECU to remove the 180kph speed cut and put it on track

you already have other cars, you say know know a lot about push rod engine, now learn about OHC engines with electric everything

and as for rotors go >>Here<<

have fun and welcome to the forums

Thanks guys, shes of defect now and regod cost me around 1500 all up , had some bits n pieces to replace. I hate to say it but I really like the car, didnt think I would but I do, first turbo car ive owned now I have to decide weather to keep it and sell my other cars ( i have a few) or sell it and keep them Its actually gonna be a hard decision, what sort of prices ar gearboxes and clutches for mine? is it an RB25 motor? I dont know any thing bout these things

Edited by rickr333

depends on the sort of clutch your actually want to put in it

i get great prices on clutches through a relation ship i have built up with NPC http://www.npcperformance.com.au/

organic are reasonably cheap not 100% sure of price i have only sold one and the bad boy of clutches a 5puk HD ceramic 1200kg pressure plate $580 delivered that will hold 350rwkw you can get heavier again and increase the diameter of the pressure plate too will change the clutch characteristics

    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
    • Yeah man, absolutely. You can try pushing me all the way in swapping the R34 for an E9x M3
    • It's almost certainly going to be some amount of pads compound transfer onto the rotors. It will probably go away after you've run them for a bit. If not, pull it all out, lightly sand the rotors, scuff the pads, and rebed.
