$100 per entrant seems ok as a price, honest thoughts are that accepted cars should be free as it a business event to make money.

Keen to see what sort of actual specs are needed to gain entry though

The reason we had a minimum standard originally is because Motive DVD paid for the runway, the event, food and accomodatio, making the event free for competitors. We kept it small so we could make time to look at each car and give them equal in-depth coverage. This also made it worth it for the workshops to travel 5 hours to Cootamundra.

I am looking to make the event larger and open it up to way more cars but charging a small entry fee of around $100 ( 2 daya at airport mind you). The TV show will stay 22 minutes long but we will make the DVD feature longer. As long as people understand that faster cars get more coverage then its ok. All cars will get same amount of trqck time though.

Thoughst please.

sounds good man,

this just gonna be drag only or will there be a skdpan/drift as well?

So JUN arrived at the runway talking the talk, but couldnt walk the walk, at the end of the challenge was still talking it up despite not even getting a time down.

To finish first, first you must finish.

Well done to the other competitors.

I was the time keeper for the Gtr Challenge and JUN did a 3/4 track pass starting in 3nd gear and went though the trap at 147 m/hour . Not a bad effort !!

It cost over $10,000 to run the event last time, of which less than half was covered by a sponsor. The rest came from my pocket. Thats right, my personal funds. I put the event on because I enjoy it and to support the scene, not to make money.

I'd love to make it free but unless everyone who competes goes out and buys 50 copies of the DVD each, then I will need to charge a nominal fee.

$100 for 2 days on a runway with more runs than you can imagine is pretty good value for money in my eyes. The amount of fun had by all makes it well worth it.

lol im sure your 450kw beast will have no trouble Steveo

i got the dvd yesty, i like it... the R35 droping its gearbox looks very expensive...

Yeah Steve o show them how a stock GTR box holds up to 450kw

Great array of 'angry' cars Andrew! > stimulus for a nice $15 purchase.

Very fast white R32 GT-R there too - driven like a brunette 'er false-blonde

Damn how did I miss this thread?

Terry you cheeky f**ker :)

Keep up the good work Andrew, I'm hanging to see number 11 and DYING for this years challenge. Last year I had a f**king ball and considering how much fun we had $100 is nothing to be part of such an awesome event.

Would be nice to see some of the talkers come and take on JUN.

    • I downloaded the apps (for windows) and Consult 1 doesn't have this function on it for the Consult 1 plug which I'm pretty sure all Skylines have. You would think someone would have a workaround after 30 years for all Skylines which have ABS.
    • Also, I don't know the actual ABS system on the skylines, but a sneaky thing could be a piece of electronic equipment that makes the ABS think you're moving, and then same piece can send a signal for a locked up tyre... Activate ABS without slamming brakes...
    • The team at OBD2 Australia are pretty good, shoot them an email and ask them. I've dealt with them before for work stuff. I'd be shocked if it didn't work, so long as Consult can activate the ABS. But you might need to use KLine for it which would be the stopper, as I don't think that piece does KLine comms.
    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using.
