yeah but i need a legal one, they same shop offered 100cell one but for cash and no receipt cause its not legal haha..

so $335 with labour for 200 cell is a bad price?

p.s would it be louder/faster then my current cat?

cheers mate

What about something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3-High-Flow-Cat-BOKKA-Metal-Stainless-Steel-/330513848977?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf4291a91

Is says it passes Euro emissions, but im not gonna go out on a limb and say its legal lol.

would a 100cell cat be to loud?loud enough to attract cops?

cause $150 for 100cell cat is good..might just have to wing it and try my luck with the police?

Why would you wing it when you can grab one of these and be done with it?

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/244139-catco-3-high-flow-catalytic-converters-in-stock-from-17500/

the info on the catco says its 400cell? im looking for 200cell..

do you know of good mufflers shops in brisbane?or a link/forums for mufflers in brisbane?

It is a high flow and epa compliant cat - Is there a specific reason you want one with less flow?

CFM is power cap

CPSI is Cell's

more cell's = more restriction

100 Cell's per square inch, is rated at over 800CFM.

and the cat doesnt really make any difference to sound but mainly to do with the size and shape of the mufflers/resonators

what are you talking about.

how is 200CPSI less flow than 400CPSI.

and really is a cop going to know how many CPSI are in a cat without physically cutting it apart?

My bad, was thinking CFM - No need to be such an arrogant twat.

im confused with what the other guy said.. cell and cpsi? the link you provided the cat is 400cell correct or?i want a more free flowing cat cause iv been told

free flowing cat(high flowed) = quicker exhaust gases leave the engine = quicker turbo spool?

i might be wrong but yeah?

whatever cat you buy, make sure you go for one that is at least 1" larger diameter than your exhaust to reduce the restriction as much as possible

or alternatively run a decat like a real man tongue.gif

right..so if i have a 3inch turbo back exhaust id need a 4inch high flow cat?

cheers

as much as i know, it does not matter what cell count your catalytic converter has, as long as it has the same emissions or better then what your car was built with.

the cheap ones on ebay are good, BUT, if you want to be safe, buy yourself a proper stainless one with reinforced bars.

if you have a lowered car you will, i guarantee it, sooner or later smash the insides of a cheap ebay one.

the ceramic/platinum insides shatters quite well and when that does happen, youll feel a lot of power loss.

i just bit into the sour apple and spent the extra 150 bucks for a proper one.

or like said, run a decat..... i wanted to, but i dont want to get caught AGAIN by the cops for running a decat.... you can cop a pretty hefty fine....

also, if you run a 3" exhaust, you dont need a 4" cat, 3" in and 3" out is fine, but your centre piece will most likely be 4" or 5" due to the inside comb

what exactly is a decat?do most muffler shops do those??so id need nothing smaller then 4inch cat if my exhaust is 3inch? how do i find out what emissions my car was built with?

de cat is basically a cat with nothing in it, all the comb is gone, you can buy em from just jap for 80 bucks, but thye are only race legal. get caught on the road and they do a emission test, they will find out. (just letting you know the worst case scenario)

why do you need a 4" inch inlet when your exhaust is only 3" how can you fit a 4" onto a 3"? its an inch bigger.......

You want one with 3in flanges but 4in or more matrix. Since the matrix takes up space you want to get a larger matrix cross section than the pipe diameter so flow isnt badly restricted. All cats have smaller flanges than the matrix size.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
