Gday guys (an girls)

Well the GTR has been sitting in the garage for a bit to long now (injectors 5 & 6 are leaking to a point where it misfires and becomes undrivable).

So i went onto Nengun performance to order some Sard 700cc Injectors and they are now saying that they are discontinued, is this the case and does anyone over here do them for a price that was close to the $650 mark (price i got quoted to ship them over here)?

I might a well tell you the current setup to make giving advice a bit easier.

RB26DETT out of a R33

2x GT2860RS -7's

Yellow Jacket Coilpacks

And the current injectors are i think are Nismo Yellow 555cc

Its running 297rwkw's on 18PSI

Dont know much else about the internals except that its done around the 65,000Km mark

Now for the questions

Is it worth buying new injectors?

Can you rebuild these injectors?

Are the replacment SARD 800cc injectors overkill for my setup?

What im currently thinking of doing

Cant decide which one to buy

SARD - 800cc x6 - Top, Low Impedance, 2 Hole, Yellow - Green, Time 1.10 msec AU $ 675.86

Or just buy what it has already Nismo Yellow - 555cc X 6 Injectors AU $ 877.88

My other question is why would i pay around $200 more for 245cc less??????

I am looking at running the same power but would i be able to do this with the SARD 800cc injectors or would it end up overspraying the fuel being a 800cc??

I dont really know to much about injectors yet but would apreciate any advice

Sorry about the Essay size post i just like to give you guys the most information possible when asking advice.

Thanks in advance

There is a minor difference between the 700 & 800 - its spray pattern as the nozzle is different.

Apparently the 700's tune ever so slightly easier, but its not a show stopper.

HOWEVER i assume you have a tune that matches your 555's?

If so, simply getting 555's will be much cheaper than going for a dyno/retune by putting in different brand & size injectors into it.

Whilst they will cost more, it'll workout cheaper overall as its a simple replacement.

what ecu do you have? if your injectors are yellow you most likely have standard GTR injectors mate. I would say just buy a couple of standard injectors to replace the leaking ones, remove the other 4 as well and get the whole lot cleaned and flowed.

the sard 700cc injectors are a great injector mainly because the operate with a response time close to standard (0.65ms) the 800s are 1.15ms. it's not a big deal and it's generally the case that the bigger the injector the longer the lag time between open and closed (it's inevitable) but the sard 700s were (are) a good performer.

if you're making 297rwkw your standard 440cc injectors will be maxed but as long as you are happy with the set-up then by all means just replace them and leave it as is. if you change to ANY other injector size you will need the car re-tuned. yes if you slot in some 800cc injectors the car will badly overfuel hence the need for re-tuning.

Part number for yellow nismo 555's for RB26

no. they don't. that part is for RB25 SIDE FEED INJECTORS. which are yellow and are 550cc but ARE NOT RB26 injectors. RB26 injectors standard are yellow, are top feed, and are most likely what this dude has (as sean pointed out). very unlikely someone would convert their RB26 to side feed, high impedance injectors and then buy the most expensive injectors around to gain 110cc... it would be like a $1500 exercise when they could buy bolt in sard 700s for around $700.

I'm still wagering this bloke has stock ecu and stock injectors.

Nengun must be wrong then... Usually the part numbers are spot on.

Lists BNCR33 as that number for 555 :ermm:

Yeah, the leaking is a telltale sign.

Also BB I thought standard injector latency was 0.77, not 0.65....

fark you are challenging my memory!!! off the top of my head standard was 0.4X (0.4something) and sard 700s are 0.65. it's easy to find, plenty of tables around with lag time figures for common injectors.

trust me they are wrong. there are no yellow 555cc top feed RB26 injectors I know of. that part number is definitely for the yellow nismo side feeds used on ECR33 RB25. nengun is actually wrong more often than you'd think with mix-ups between GTR/GTST etc. it happens to everyone a bit though.... people often assuming BCNR33 just = R33 etc.

you are right. standard RB26 is apparently 0.77. got me fked now how the sard 700s manage 0.65 but I remember it clearly having sold and fitted so many to various GTRs over the years. I could recite sard injector lag time figures in my sleep...

Sorry for the late reply guys,

to my knowledge it has some form of nismo ecu. I think I was the sort that replaced the factory one and not one that piggy backed.

As for the injectors I will have to pull one out for you and take some pictures so you all have a better idea. I'm pretty sure they were yellow ones. And yes I was told they were at there max so they prob are the factory ones.

So If I was to put the same ones in again I wouldn't need a retune?

And does anyone here have any good standard injectors for sale?

If so are they hard to install?

Cheers

Correct - you're replacing like for like.

If so are they hard to install?

Here's my DIY on GTR injector installation, its pretty easy: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/285621-diy-gtr-injector-replacement/

nismo ecu or not you cannot change injector size without a re-tune and no nismo ecu is tunable here in aus (or anywhere else for that matter, they are set by nismo and that's it). 100% as long as you fit the same size injectors you have now you will not need a re-tune.

it's not hard to change injectors, basically release the pressure from the rail, then start unbolting stuff.

my advice would be pull out one of the working, non-leaking ones and get it cleaned and tested. shouldn't be more than $20 or $30 for 1 injector. they will tell you what it flows (i'm betting standard 440cc). if they are standard just buy some used standard ones, get them and the rest of your old ones cleaned and flowed too then install them. there should be plenty for sale in the for sale section. usually pretty cheap too. you can also use RNN14 GTI-R SR20DET injectors (no real advantage except they come in 4s so you don't have to buy 6). cannot use any other SR20 inecjtors though.

i bought the 700cc sards and they are direct drop in, i did not buy the 800cc sards as they use different plugs and i rather NOT rewire them if i have the choice and apparently the fuel rail spacing needs to be modified too

shame you cant get the 700cc's anymore? CJ motor stock them im pretty sure.. do some more hunting! :)

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
