WTF calm down!

He said that an RB26 is 400cc smaller than a 2J

Also fow do you have no problems flowing over 1000hp when you havent made 1000hp yet?

A car that makes 510 kw at the wheels thats almost 700hp. Can you convert that to FLYWHEEL ENGINE POWER. Its very close to a 1000 because its going through a automatic tranmission you will need to add about 20% on that drivetrain loss so as you can seethe head is more than capable of FLOWING over a 1000hp. Dont confuse that with rear wheel horspower.

Also as far as me being DAFT i know the RB30 is a single cam head. I just used it as an example as to why people use hybrids.

And saying a head has CC ratings is stupid.

For those who claim a j engine sounds better than an RB, clean ya farken ears out. The j can scream but it cant snarl like an angry rb.

They are both amazing engines and can punch well above their weight. 1000 plus hp is achievable in either camp.

Yes the toyota can be made to handle, there are some fine examples of quick track cars around but you have to throw a shitload more coin at them to achieve it.

Drive what you like, they both outdo the local product by a wide margin but someone should have drowned the tool that designed the supra body.

You said sequential gearbox for starters...but ill leave it there.

yeah yup...a head sure does have cc ratings....

Noel - you are old and your ears cant handle the 1jz scream :P

also the body is fine...the dash is gross...but Id live with it

You may be right Zeb, Even screamer pipes sound like a busted arse to me. The anger of a hot rb on the other hand gives me wood. (or as close as you can get to it at my age)

You obviously dont know my car. If u think im lying head over to The Supraforums and check out the build page.

It has a fully built TOYOTA AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION built by MV automatics, with a spragless stage 3 kit new gears, b&m quick shifter and full manual valve body so it shifts sequentially.

But its still an auto box.

The combustion chamber is measured in CC's....thats part of the head and can play a big role in how an engine performs.

Also port volumes are measured in CC's

Manual Valve bodies in an Auto does not make it a sequential box...its an Auto with a manual valve body :)

Anyway this isnt a thread about A340's so STFU now kthx

The combustion chamber is measured in cc's is it :), Dude u have lost the plot. Anyway, you made it about A340's not me, so as far me shutting up make me. I dare u to try it.

And its not just a manual valve body its a whole gearset.

My god.

No wonder I rarely venture to this part of the forum.

I live an breathe engines...so you go ahead and keep being incorrect and pulling your dick over your "sequential auto box" and I'll go on my merry way.

autos are ghey

... combustion chamber volume IS measured in cc's

+1

Thread delivers teh lulz. For the record most incarnations of 1.5jz come about when a 1jz powered vehicle has a 2jz bottom end bolted on to stroke it out 500cc. You'll seldom see it done the other way around, starting with a 2jz powered vehicle - only reason I can think of is that 1jz heads are probably cheaper...

As for the 26 head on a 30.....well that makes you sound rather daft.

RB26 head has 2 cams, 4 valves/cylinder solid lifters etc compared to the RB30 head which is SOHC 2 valve and hydraulic lifters

Well you'd put the 26 head on a 30 bottom end rather than a 26 head on an 30 head. A head on a head wouldn't make much power mate. :)

Alright Captain Ahab,

Before you go on, go do some reading, because obviously you don't know what your f**king talking about.

Come back, apologize to zebra, and then apologize to the world for 'trying' to race a yacht.

Back On topic.

Personally not a fan of the sound of the J engine, have heard a few nice ones though, its all swings and roundabouts.

There are one or two very nice handling Supras, but , well that's my point there are one or two LOL.

And Birds if your going to the expense and trouble of building a hybrid, you wouldn't leave a worse performing head on it.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
