Road Rule 217 states that drivers must not use front or rear fog lights unless driving in fog or other hazardous weather conditions that cause reduced visibility.

Thats so frikin stupid.

i used to drive around in my sisters old v35 with only the fogs on at night.

a cop stopped me and said turn your headlights on.. but nothing about the fogs - hence my assumption..

i guess nowadays its not something of importance to target.

I reckon if the cops targeted fog lights at night instead of speeding, they'd make more money off Falcodore owners than they do off all speeding fines! :P

Oh yeah, and following a car with a rear fog light on (like the PITA Focus on Friday night) is quite an annoyance due to the retina burning red light. Silly dickhead copped a 5 minute eyeful of my "high intensity" highbeams at close range.

Fkn fog lights without fog is nearly as annoying as incoming 300C HIDs!

I "can't believe" you didn't know it was illegal Aaron...

for that exact reason i pulled mine out all together(which is probably also illegal) for the incase i flick it on.

lol i just didnt know..

lol aat the 300c HID's hahaha

Right hand stalk, rotate the middle portion three clicks away from you..? hardly an accidental movement :P Plus it lights up on your dash that you've done it. Ive kept mine in incase of tailgaters :whistling:

So, you get a light indication when the fogs are on? Mine just turn on but nothing special shows up on the dash.

Its pictogram time!

Standard lights on (same applies for one rotation forward of the right stalk, and also for press button fog lights).

What that means for the tail lights (inc. rear fog light)

If I turn the middle of my right stalk two clicks forward (its two, not 3 - my bad)

Suddenly, I look like Im braking !

And whilst we're here, my lighting options

Standard lights

One click forward of the middle section of the right stalk

Still on the same click forward of the right stalk + press the button to make my actual fog lights come on

I assumed everyone had the same lighting options?

I thought rear fog light was part of the "cold pack" (heated mirrors/ rear fog...?)

I have front fog lights (no rear), that also double as high beams, but then again, mines a bit different!:whistling:

Right you are, so does nothing change between position 1 and 2 for the middle bit of the right stalk? Assuming your car has the same indicator stalk!

I'll have to double check, but I think I only have one position on my stalk for fog lights...this is getting way to phallic all this talk about stalks.

No Homo.:rofl2:

Diff dash/stalks/interior all together. Already proved a PITA once!

Thanks for the pics Duncan. Yours is different to mine and I think I've got the same as Alex. My middle bit on the right stalk only has 1 position (on/off).

With the fog light switch (see pic) in pos I (up) moving the stalk to on just brings on my headlights/parkers (same as using the normal headlight control). With it in pos II (down), moving the stalk gives me just fog lights. NB. I don't have the one bright rear fog light like you (cold pack?) so I have only rear parkers on, regardless of switch settings.

So my bottom switch only ever stays in pos II, and then I turn fogs on/off with the rotary stalk control. And there is no extra light on my dash to say the fogs are on, unlike yours which is pretty cool.

Your setup does seem more, ummm, complicated though - in a good way  .

Leon thats the standard aero light option switch. i have the same one and the relay next to the airbox.

yes cold pack got new indicator stalk, and a heater switch for the mirrors and windscreens next to our aero switch. i have that too :P

they will bolt in fine

why dont you just cut out the blanking bits you have in there now. might look ok!

Don't tell him that! :domokun:

How's he going to sell them to me if he goes & cuts holes in ' em!

Keep and eye out for the surrounds, but it might even be an option if someone was willing to let their surrounds be used to make a mould?

Sure why not. I'm such a carbon addict I'd probably be happy to swap mine out for carbon fibre copies :P

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
