someone is a little touchy about Forza I think

umad1.jpg

Not even mad.

It was released on time.

I received it on release day.

Everything works.

Every car is fully detailed.

The cars look and sound amazing and drive even better.

The new race types are interesting.

The new online features are cool.

The amount of extra content I received for the LCE appears to be good value.

There is only one down side to Forza 4, it's on Xbox 360 instead of a PC.

and what exactly did you expect to happen? were you expecting to get given the cars, already modded and then race them round like boats? i can garantee you that if you found that aspect of gt5 boring then you will find the next installment of forza boring as it will simply be a jazzed up version of the previous one.

I recently bought a PS3 and GT5, coming from Forza 3 on an xbox 360. Forza shits all over GT5 in the modification and tuning department... put individual parts on that make sense, rather than "stage 4", you can adjust almost every adjustable part on the car to your liking, including tire pressure. In GT5 it's just packages, and 3 sorts of tires you can get. PLUS, you can't even modify a RIDICULOUS amount of cars. The modifiable ones have to be "premium". I didn't know wtf was going on when I first played it, it was pretty disappointing. Also, there's no damage in GT5, and the cars that do have the ability to be damaged can be put into a wall at 150 and come out with a bit of a bent front bar.

Forza > GT5

I still like the PS3 way more than I liked my 360, though. With my 360 it wouldn't matter what car I was driving on forza, if I didn't have the TV volume cranked, you could be forgiven if you thought a supercharged V8 was the only engine sound in the game. The 360 was so loud, lol.

im liking the fact you can remove stock spoilers on most cars like the 33 thumbsup.gif

also the sounds this time round are heaps better also has notable changes in sound when doing upgrades

(vids off a tv so sound is crappy but you can tell there better this time

^^^ That + customisation that is actually decent, the ability to upgrade all cars, and damage just owns GT5... The graphics look way better than GT5 anyway, on GT5 if you zoom into the car, the doors have like THICK jaggies on them. Forza never had that in number 3 or 2. This new forza looks so much better. I am actually considering buying an Xbox just to play it again.

That looks ridiculously good.

I haven't played GT5 in aaages so I don't really have a bias to either, but looking at the Gallardo clip of Forza 4, how can you guys say that the physics engine is better than GT5?

both left wheels on the grass whilst turning right at 100mph without the car getting unsettled? Realistic physics? Also for the amount of crashing he does, there is no more damage on the Gallardo at the end of the clip than there would be in GT5.

btw, I really wanted GT5 to be more than it is and would love Forza 4 to be the perfect car game and make me get a 360, but I just don't see it.

that looks more like nfs than forza!

are there physics/realism options?

exaclty what I was going to ask, does it show what settings he is using?

Yeah there is no way he has the settings on simulation in that.

lol lol lol ok watched the whole thing, kid is using rewinds, says it all.

anyone else find double-clutching heaps easier now? i have the controller buttons on preset 11 (if that makes sense), and its a breeze.

i may as well put gt5 on ebay or something, as theres no way i can go back to it now, which is a shame because i put some decent hours into that game :glare:

not using a wheel, bet he has all the aids on as well, can't judge how the physics are without a wheel and all the aids off

Secondly, I was lucky enough to score Forza 4 from Harvey norman yesterday :) ....All I can say is, they have NAILED it once again. The only difference this time is its very, very hard to find a fault in the physics!? They are literally spot on!! Very similar to Live for Speed Physics but better.

using a wheel? you can't compare the physics between different games without using a wheel

GT5 physics are shit and even worse when drifting, got over that stuff real fast because i mainly drift when playing sims

iracing and live for speed (LFS for the drifting) are the 2 best sims out there by far and i doubt even Forza will get near them with a wheel, would love to have a wheel for the xbox and see how good the physics in Forza 4 are but don't feel like paying $500 + atm for a fanatec wheel

anyone else think that forza fans are like apple fans?

the fanboi's for both GT5 and Forza are the biggest retards

minus it sucking that i don't have a wheel for the xbox, drag racing still being stupid even with the new drag slicks because of lack of grip, not being able to change wheel offset, exhaust (on some cars) and the R32 model being fail suck big time i'm liking Forza, drifting is better then Forza 4 and racing is pretty fun, rivals mode is great fun

anyone else find double-clutching heaps easier now? i have the controller buttons on preset 11 (if that makes sense), and its a breeze.

why would you be double-clutching? not to mention you can't even really do it in Forza unless you have the fanatec wheel and H shifter

I stopped playing iRacing just after the NTM came out, really should get back into it, but it gets so fkn expensive after a while when trying to run in a full round.

LFS physics aren't that crash hot, even GT5 is better than LFS now (it was tip top all those years ago tough)

GT5 is a real driving sim.

Forza 4 is a driving sim for everybody.

Forza is too arcade like for me. Physics in GT5 are better, if you cant drift in GT5 then you dont practise enough. I can tsuiso basically every track. Feels like the car is on ice in F4 compared to GT5.

Forza 4 graphics and sound quality are awesome, GT5 have alot of catching up to do sound wise.

Having played both back to back this morning I like driving GT5 more.

    • I myself AM TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO BELIEVE that the load is higher on the track than on the dyno. If it is not happening on the dyno, I cannot see it happening on the track. The difference you are seeing is because it is hot on the track, and I am pretty sure your tuner is not belting the crap out of it on teh dyno when it starts to get hot. The only way that being hot on the track can lead to real ping, that I can think of, is if you are getting more oil (from mist in the inlet tract, or going up past the oil control rings) reducing the effective octane rating of the fuel and causing ping that way. Yeah, nah. Look at this graph which I will helpfully show you zoomed back in. As an engineer, I look at the difference in viscocity at (in your case, 125°C) and say "they're all the same number". Even though those lines are not completely collapsed down onto each other, the oil grades you are talking about (40, 50 and 60) are teh top three lines (150, 220 and 320) and as far as I am concerned, there is not enough difference between them at that temperature to be meaningful. The viscosity of 60 at 125°C is teh same as 40 at 100°C. You should not operate it under high load at high temperature. That is purely because the only way they can achieve their emissions numbers is with thin-arse oil in it, so they have to tell you to put thin oil in it for the street. They know that no-one can drive the car & engine hard enough on the street to reach the operating regime that demands the actual correct oil that the engine needs on the track. And so they tell you to put that oil in for the track. Find a way to get more air into it, or, more likely, out of it. Or add a water spray for when it's hot. Or something.   As to the leak --- a small leak that cannot cause near catastrophic volume loss in a few seconds cannot cause a low pressure condition in the engine. If the leak is large enough to drop oil pressure, then you will only get one or two shots at it before the sump is drained.
    • So..... it's going to be a heater hose or other coolant hose at the rear of the head/plenum. Or it's going to be one of the welch plugs on the back of the motor, which is a motor out thing to fix.
    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
