Mark saw your at today at MM and all I can say is fkn amazing, took my r35 to get it a RWC (moved to qld) and Trent showed me around the place. I'm gonna start looking into getting a set of track wheels and I'm thinking about the ones you have.

Gratz on the car, great work and a great team down at MM, I take my hat off to the lot of you :)

Will definitely try to get to a few events and make my way to WTAC in Syd

thanks! would be great to catch up at the track.

Not yet.

Hehehe. Everyone's sweating on the freakin' carbon turning up.

Drew's is alive now and sounds grumpy. If all going well (when the carbon turns up) we will see you out at QR next week.

It's getting exciting isn't it.

Cheers

Marty

The hassle with the availability of the carbon parts is beyond a joke and we are far from impressed. Not only has it delayed test days in the past but also means that people involved now will have to work ALL weekend to even get the car to the track for monday testing. Not to mention the additional cost in freight/overtime etc. Not happy Jan!

At least you guys have a plan B for parts and can drive it. Drew has no front end at all and it's even due before your parts. Hope he pulls his finger out and finishes the carbon asap. We are starting to get a little nervous!

Cheers

Unfortunately it always seems to be outside contractors and suppliers who are the hold up whenever the pressure is on.

I hope you guys get it sorted, I'm super keen to see how it performs!

+1

When I worked as a small business manager I was project manager for many jobs, some going into the millions of dollars in costs.

Here in Adelaide we found the eastern seaboard states were never on the same 'level' with us timeframe-wise. If the interstate supplier had quoted 8 weeks for manufacture (add in 1 week for delivery, which I always arranged same time order was placed for product) we sort of had to allow say 10 weeks for manufacture, sometimes 12 (50% longer than quoted), simply because the late supply happened ALL the time. It was a guarantee that somewhere along the supply chain in NSW or Victoria a company would end up holding up our project. Main customer was the SA Govt. so it became nothing short of embarrassing. Didnt matter if I was in contact weekly to be updated on delivery timeframe, guaranteed the last week we'd get the 'sorry' speach......

Experienced this over 12 years in my job, it's the one part of the job I dont miss (got sacked once my kneecaps were surgically removed).

I hope you can work it out in good time.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
