before pulling the starter motor out:

Check your battery voltage, both just sitting with everything off (Should be about 12.6V or so) and then during cranking (shouldnt drop below 9v from memory, even 9v I think is getting to low)

if this checks out, put the car in gear and roll it back or forward a bit (the gear for the starter might be jammed against the ring gear.

But if this fails then I'd say it would be the starter motor as suggested

sounds like mine when my battery dead, the battery got not enough power to start the car. If jump is working then your car can still use the battery for a few days/weeks?

Jump means you taking other's car battery power to start your car and then you still use your underpower battery, the car do charge the battery but it won't last long anymore. It will die soon so replace the battery asap.

Not true, my battery has gone flat about 3 times in the last year and is still fine.

Only a cheap compliance battery as well....

yeah same..get a proper (plug in the wall) battery charger, bunnings has them cheaper than auto stores, I got a fairly decent one with an engine start option on it as well for about 60-80$..

my battery has gone flat numerous times..but after a good overnight charge its good as new..

If battery keeps dying, won't it be an alternator problem?..

Or is it because of the cold weather? I know that short drives + loud music w/ sub can drain the battery before the alternator can charge it

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, maybe that's what happened to me!!! i had pretty good sound system and maybe the battery went flat before the alternator charge it!! That is why the battery keep going flat and die. And short drive yes :(

That makes perfect sense, I recently moved within 15mins of my work and only drive the car there & back at night.. with the sub going nuts lol..

You need to check that you don't have a drain somewhere in my car. My old car had a dodgy earth and the glovebox light was shorting to ground (not through the switch) and staying on

This over night was draining the battery

Simple check I guess you could do to eliminate a failing battery is unplug it (negative first) and leave the car sit over night and plug the battery back in. If all is well then it's a problem with the wiring. If not it could be your alternator or your battery

RAA guy who came out to jump my car last night noticed my boot light wasn't turning off when closing the boot. We couldnt find the switch so thought it must have been in the lock.

Anyway, pulled the globe out yesterday and guess what? Car started first go tonight ^_^

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
