My mate bought a GTS4 which had an RB25DE in it and replaced it with a RB30ET using a sump off a stagea i think it was and then now he has dropped a RB26 head on it and using the twin turbo setup off the RB26 until he can get cash for a big single but my question is...is the whole drivetrain setup on this car the same as a GTR as he is now telling everyone he has a 4 door GTR and i was sure that the Gbox and drivetrain was totally different can someone set this str8 so i can tell him to shutup plz lol.

Someone else can chime in but im pretty sure the gts4 just runs a straight mechanical 4wd system. Were as the gtr runs an attessa system/ bigger brakes/ larger cooler/ alloy front guards, bonnet/ bigger arches.

GTR is 4WD,GTS4 is AWD. GTS4 still runs a form of ATTESSA but without the ETS.

So if a GTS4 is All Wheel Drive, and a GTR is 4WD, how many wheels does a GTS4 have, and given the GTR is only driving 4 of it's wheels (not all) which ones is it not driving?

OH HARR HARR SMARTY FARTY PANTS :)

AWD means all wheels drive like a subi all the time.

4WD means it sometimes drives 2 and sometimes drives 4.

im sure you have a grasp of how ATTESSA-ETS works.

Check the badge on the back of a first gen Liberty, exactly the same drivetrain as any current Subaru (most of the parts can be directly swapped) but the badge reads 4WD... All Wheel Drive is nothing more than an INCREDIBLY well done marketing campaign by Subaru to seperate their vehicles from Patrols and other such tractors (the only place 4WD was considered the norm). The AWD vs 4WD comparison would mean the Landcruisers/Prados are AWD... Fact is Subarus will also quite happily only drive 2 wheels too..

I think the r32gts4 and r32gtr have pretty much identical drive train both atessa based (part time all wheel drive). Gts4 low powered rb20 for slippery conditions snow etc. So a four door gts4 with a decent engine is not too far off a four door gtr at all.

just tell him he has a modified gts4, not a 4 door gtr as the GTR was never made in 4 doors, he doesn't have flared rear guards, and most importantly, the gtr runs a rb26, not a rb26/30, so he's got a more beefed up motor than a stock gtr. someone with a v8 falcon may have the same motor from the factory as an xr8 but that doesn't make it an xr8.

just tell him he's selling himself short by saying it's a 4 door gtr, LOL

hey wohhhhh now what?

PGC10 original GTR.

Autech skyline 26 (i actually dont know if it had attessa-ets, but it had a GTR front and an automatic N/A RB26).

Autech 40th Anniversary 4 door GTR.

This thread is full of win lol

AWD, 4WD. One is for the road the other is for offroad is how i see it.

A GTR is probably more 2wd than 4wd given the front wheels dont drive the car all the time

4 door GTR lol They did make them but his car is far from a 4 door GTR

well landcruisers and evos are driven on both, so whats your point?

all wheel drive means that all 4 wheels accelerate all the time per se.

4 wheel drive means that it is capable of accelerating all 4 wheels but can also use just 2.

ok i'll be more specific, they didn't make a 4 door gtr in his model.

as for the autech, they technically weren't made by nissan.

well if autech was considered nissan, what is the skyline26? does it have attessa-ets? is it just a family tribute to a winning racecar?

i believe it is nissan. has a nissan badge with a "autech version" sticker.

afaik:nissan made the chassis of the 4 doors for autech and whatever else. autech just assembled the rest.

correct me if im wrong.

isnt this like the stagea rs4s debate??? its running a gts4 drivetrain but closer to that of a r33gtr, the rear drive shafts arent as strong nor do we have the same brakes as the GTR. all we have is the same gearbox and atessa system.

also even though autech made that 4 door gtr, was it not just a modded gts4?? like the 260rs stagea, stock vehicles, came with the rb25 vin plates etc, but autech just threw in a different motor and upgraded some parts here and there?? so it really isnt a GTR...... besides the mere fact its a station wagon, but same principle, wasnt made by nissan, just a sub branch or authorised tuner?

Im not too in the know on stagea rs4 but im quite sure they dont run "the same" attessa as a GTR,i would think it would be missing ETS.

No. Autech 4 door GTRs have a proper GTR floorpan.they are a proper GTR, not a GTS4.

I highly doubt 260RS has an RB25 vin. AFAIK:260RS is basically an R33 GTR wagon with full R33 GTR running gear including ETS.

An EVO goes off road.... yeah sure they do, but get one to follow you into the Kakadu and see how far it gets.... ever heard the saying your car looks like a 4WD.....

We could talk about this all day but my point is that in my world a 4WD is an off road car, an AWD is something that is driven by all four wheels but cannot go off road.

I dont think Subaru did a bad job on marketing with the AWD thing. I think what they were trying to do was actually tell people their cars were not meant to go into the tough off road conditions that we knew a 4WD could handle. Tell someone their car is a 4WD and they will try and take it off road only to be very disappointed in its 'offroad' ability. Back in the day, as we older folk know it, a 4WD was a Nissan Patrol, a Toyota Landcruiser, a Range Rover etc Subaru's were not a 4WD as they would not successfully go where a 4WD could go

isnt this like the stagea rs4s debate???

Exactly. Those that have one want to claim its something its not as it makes their car sound more appealing. if i put a Ferarri bodykit on a Celica does it make it a Ferarri? Of course not. Simply changing the drive train on a 4 door R32 does not make it a GTR. Run the chassis number through the FAST system and it will tell you its a generic 4 door Skyline....

All you are talking is slang. im talking about technical differences. all is all and 4 isn't always all. mong:)

wrong

i had an r32 gts4 myself. was part time awd. meaning it has the attessa ets

The GTS4 has the Same AWD system as the GTR, ATTESSA ETS,

The older ATTESA system on the R32 GTR updated 4 times per second, the R33 GTR updates at 20 times per second. For the VSPEC ATTESA ETS Pro, the frequency is closer to 1000 times per second

Fair enough. :)

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
