So after hitting the track yesterday for the first time I have found that my brakes are pretty crap, I currently just have standard calipers with slotted rotors, EBC redstuffs and braided lines.

I had a few issues, first was insane brake shudder under heavy braking, and then my pedal turned to mush after only a handfull of hot laps.

The pads are new and so is the fluid so Im a little perplexed as to why I have either cooked the fluid or burnt the pads, the fluid was dot 4.

So now do I keep my standard setup and just get race fluid and better pads and try again or should I go for an upgrade?

I'm running 17's and dont plan on running 18's so the updgrade would have to fit in 17's.

I was looking at the r34 GTT calipers, anyone know if they will fit in 17's? I'm more worried about the width of the caliper compared to the standard 32 gtst, as there is only about 5mm clearance between the caliper and the wheel spoke on my sterns.

Then theres the K-sport package, which is pretty friggin cheap for the 330mm package. Think it was around the $1600 mark of ebay for the d2 brand, pretty sure its the same same as the K sport?

Aren't EBC blacks the u-beaut comp grade?

You have ABS?

Best to do a full fluid change before your next time on the track.

I upgraded my R32 GTS4 to R32 GT-R slotted rotors and std R32 GT-R (Sumitomo) calipers. The brakes feel better, but I haven't taken them to the track.

Winton. I changed the fluid only a few weeks ago, full flush when i put the braided lines on.

A mate rekons i boiled the fluid due to the shudder, also explains the poor braking if the discs are warped.

I dont have abs either.

I thought the red stuffs would be fine on the track, there msant to be alot higher temp then the green stuff.

Yep. worked well for me. get some A1RM pads from GSL rally sport in QLD. They're $127 delivered for front set. RBF600 fluid at least! Dot 4 or whatever... all crap..

Not sure if the GTT's will fit under those sterns. they're not much different to 32 ones just spaced further out. 324mm rotors with dog bones works a treat too.

Yea I saw the package unique autosports do and it looks pretty good.

Im going to try better fluid and a machine for now as I wanna try and get till the end of the year on the current setup as the pads are new still, plus still only learning winton so they should be fine for now until I start to get quicker.

Besides the shudder they actually stopped pretty good, I think maybe once they are actually funtioning 100% they will be alot better.

Worst case is sell the sterns or run 5mm slip ons as I already have extended studs on the front, my other wheels have a heap of clearance luckily.

Bubba: thats seems to be the most common setup, seems like a winner.

Very big winner, I reckon the setup is just as good as the Brembos on my mates GTS4 but without the multi-thousand-dollar pricetag :P

FWIW, I run RDA slotted stock size (Z33 rotors) on my Stagea with Greenstuff pads and it stop pretty well for what it is but the setup on the 32 is leagues ahead.

Edit: the setup also JUST fits under stock 34GTT rims, there was like a bees-dick between the caliper and inside of the rims but it all cleared.

    • Resizing injectors in Nistune can be done a couple of ways, and there are a couple of ways that you can make a mess of it. The tuner needs to be really aware of the effects of whichever approach he uses (either K, or TIM). They are both easy enough to "get the injector size right" to run the engine. But little details like old start enrichment and hot start are affected differently, depending on which boxes you check.
    • Pretty safe to say almost everyone that has tuned their own car has experienced this issue. The difference being that we have our laptop in the car and when it happens, it's literally 10 seconds of tuning to sort it.  Would you be happy to plug in your laptop and sort this yourself? It is a very simple process and there is no risk of harming your engine (if you are worried about that). 
    • Yeah thats the next step now, either they wil or i will take out for a drive to work and go straight their after work and see is we get the same issues 🤞  thought i try my luck here too, never know someone else might have had the same issue but thanks for the reply 
    • Basically your tuner needs to drive it for the 30 min (or whatever) to create the same conditions then check the ECU settings and sensors at that time. They may not be excited to because that takes them 30 min rather than just opening the bonnet and seeing the problem straight away.... Hot start is generally not as tricky as cold start, but there would be a table for fuel enrichment vs coolant temp as a starting point
    • Yeah, they all cant say anything for sure as everything is working fine . Said unable to find an issue untill it stops again. Could mist likely be CAS wiring or IAS valve issue but again not 100%
