Just got a quote from MV Automatice to fit the Transgo kit, $450-480 for fitting, pretty happy with that. Also getting a price from my brothers work mate that is a qualified trans mechanic.

Still tossing up if Ill have a crack myself, doesn't look too hard. Either way would like it fitted in the next couple weeks.

Yeah it includes fluid. That's my thinking also. From Craig it would be about $250 installed and returned to me plus about $100 for oil and my stuffing around to remove and refit the valve body, and the car off the road for what would end up taking a week. I can drop the car off to MV on a Thursday and pick it up on the Friday all done for $450-480.

Craig is a great option for guys living near him but I think MV is a better option for us SA guys.

Bahhhaaa.....Btw....did a VB for steve in Qld....vb taken out Sunday night by him the picked up and sent to me on Monday via TNT(my account)...he had it back and ready to install on Wednesday morning.

Just an FYI!!!

Yep, the service was awesome.....thanks again craig!

Removing and reinstalling the vb really is quite easy, it's just messy and transmission fluid is seriously stinky. I took craigs advice and left a drop sheet down, then tossed it afterwards.

It took me a little while to get the fluid levels right as what I assumed was the cold level (the cross hatched area on the dipstick) meant that once hot, the levels were totally wrong and didnt line up with the "hot"'markers......

Once that was sorted though, the car is sooooo much better to drive.

Better in drive, better in manual, super smooth on light throttle, nice and firm when you get your foot into it.

In short, get Craig to modify the vb and do the removal/Instal yourself!

If anyone was umm'ing and ahhh'ing about getting this, DO IT!!

Sooo much better. Thanks to Craig and Iian for doing the work :)

Also sorry for doing an Andy hahaha.

Time to source some awsome.

You offered to try and unplug it when Craig wanted to throw my valve body across the workshop. That's enough to get some credit for the work lol.

Maybe that's why craigs is tempremental and forgetful, it doesn't want to remember its past lol

Guys just letting you know that there is now an installer in Victoria (Scott) and radelaide (Paul). Kits are still available through me and I am still trying to get them cheaper. My next order is ready to jump on.

Craig, can you organise an installer in Newrybar?

lolz.......next time I'm up at the farm I could show you.....then you'll be trained! :P

Do I get a certificate?

What are you doing next week? I might pull mine apart this weekend & send it to you if you can fit me into your schedule.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
