hey guys just wondering if you guys can help me put together a list of buying a car which has already been rebuilt - may it be a r32 gtr, 33 gtr, rx 7, so on..

also just some follow up questions

would it be a good idea to buy one that has been rebuilt (engine wise) or not?

would you buy one or not?

You would buy a car with a rebuilt motor:

Most R32 GT-Rs about already have a rebuild in them.

It is cheaper than buying a car then rebuilding the motor.

If the motor is in good condition (do the usual checks) and was put together by competent people using good parts

then you are on a winner.

thanks for the replies, well the car i had in mind has all the reciepts (well the owner does) and its done by a rep place, its had turbo's changed to brand new factory ones, same as injectors, also had a new aftermarket radiator in it and intake kit, and seals etc have been changed and all the engine rebuilt with 5000 km warranty, worth having a look at then?

If it has a 5000k warranty then i dont see why you'd be worried. So long as the running in has been done well.

Id be more confident in buying a rebuild motor that had already done a few 1000 km and had a hammering. At least that way you can be relatively confident its holding together haha.

well i think 2000 is left of that 5000 now anyway :P

yeah its all a gamble. but if the engine sounds good (right from ice cold startup). and it looks nice with warranty and papers, then you really cant ask for more than that.

as others have said, any original motor is also a gamble, or its been rebodged and no one mentioned it. and with 3000 solid km's I'd say its safe ( or fried already due to poor run in, but that should be noticeable anyways)

even buying a new car is as much of a gamble with the way they pump them out of the factories at low budgets atm......the number of current shape falcons ive seen on the side of the highway, or getting hoisted on a tow truck is bad. i'd be pissed if my brand new car did what a second hand one might do .

good luck

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
