R33 v's 180sx, what to get ?

It seems to be so hard to make decision between getting an r33 skyline or a 180sx. They both seem to be able to go very hard.

180's seem to be becoming very popular

I read the forums and alot of people are selling their skylines to get a 180sx, i am not sure why ?

Any suggestions anyone?

AM NOT!

diabolik1 - delete your sent items.

chillgoon,

i LOOOVED my skyline so much, but insurance was a problem as i am saving for a house. the 180 is completely different to drive. the 180 responds well to less mods (ie would take a LOT less to make a 180 an 11 second car than an R33 gtst). Cabin space is muchly reduced in the 180 as is interior quality - its a lot more plastic than the skylines interior... but, for a fair bit less, its still a VERY good car.

and yes - thats my goal - 11 seconds.

Pranks got it about right,,,,Insurance,,,Insurance.....Seems to me most people buying Skylines have incorporated their 1st years Insurance into the car loan,,,then get a rude shock when renewal time comes around.

Hows the house hunting going Prank,,,see your already modding the little baby,,,,naughty boy........

thanks guys. All the response has been great.

I am finishing uni this year and have a job lined up so i want to treat myself and get a nice car :D

u get good looking ones and bad looking ones in both 180sx and r33. I'm just going to wait till the right one comes along :(

once again thanks guys, you are all great.

ps when i do finally get my car (hopefully november) i'll have to come on a cruise!

Hey Chillgoon,,,,,My basically stock car could be up for grabs about then,,,,,looking at upgrading,,,,,Mine IS the Right One.....Nice White series 2 with all the cool stuff,,,,Pranks style front bar with extra factory lip spoiler and a whole heap more.....

Prank,,,,a cruise that doesn't included the Northern beaches would see us there.....

sorry ndr have to agree with MIC here, white is not really my colour, but then again at the right price who knows ...

MIC you know you will love it if i get a skyline too..

actually guys i have been thinking about slaz's 180sx that he has for sale. Seems impressive

We have fitted 5 180sx/s13 cars with rb20dets the rb25det s would be great the rb20det goes well i think both cars are fun to drive.

I was blown off by a 180sx sr20det while driving a twin turbo supra so they do go well.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
