So his definition of a boat is a car that doesn't appear to "go" and looks overly heavy and unable to pull off of it's own weight.

R33 GTS N/A '93 RB25DE

*He has not been in my car nor seen it take off.

So I was just asking your opinion on this, is my car really a fkn yacht or is he just talking crap because he still drives his mummy's camry?

One other thing, I have a blazt ecu cable and every time I plug it into any of the 3 laptops I have the USB is never detected (All different OS's and Admins) but when I plug it into my PC it detects and installs.

Thanks guys

Check legacy usb is enabled in bios of laptops?

Secondly, skyline>camry, however yes its a boat as it is slow and if stock suspension then high with alot of body roll....

What do you care what your mate thinks anyway.

with the RB25DE your in the same league as Lexus XE10, BMW E46 Inline 6....these are cars that are just used for smooth Cruising and to look good while doing it, and there is no point of thrashing the nuts of them because they are not meant to be Performance Cars. If you start comparing it to Turbo Skyline then YES its a Boat, but put it in it league and it does well.

Lol not even in the same ball park as the M54 engines.

Not to mention any E46 325/330 would smoke a GTS Skyline given that they do 0-100 in under 7.5s (330 does it in 6.5).

Who cares, they are not even worth Racing or going fast in they are both slow.

Last time I checked 6.5 seconds is pretty good for a NA 6 cylinder in a luxury vehicle. Given that your RB25DE would do 8-10...

My point was the M54 BMW straight 6 is a fantastic engine with good engineering and should not be classed as being in the same league as a RB25DE.

Rather an RB though these guys from NZ claim to be Abusing there $700 R32, RB25DE for a solid 4 years and its still not letting up, though they Break like 50 Laws in this video, Maybe Underpowering the RB25DE was a move by NIssan to add Durability to a Engine you would not get with a Turbo.

They are slow. Turbo skylines which are stock as a rock are also quite slow but still not bad for a small turbo motor. There aren't much for the price you can get which are quicker. A slightly boosted turbo skyline with the basic mods(exhaust and probably cooler) is faster than a BMW M3. I had about 180rwkw when I was stock and I managed to get ahead and infront of the M3 bmw V8. Just enjoy the car.

When you are able to get a turbo, you will love it. A skyline with greater than or equal to 200rwkw is a very fun, nice, powerful and fast car.

Love the video above, not many 2.0NA motors can do that!

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
