Diesel piston. Chamber creates a swirl increasing the dispersion of the fuel through the air. It also controls the flame front alot more. I will try and find a pictures of this s2000 crank that snapped. Think 5" crank nose snapped clean.

that shit is awesome i want to be there when it happens (protected from rouge bits of gearbox though)

man proabably would have been like 11000rpm thats one tough little engine they build though

drove it off a cliff!?! and then was escorted to the movies, all a happy ending cept for the poor civic stuck in the tree i guess..

.

but it is his truck, owner driver.. haha shell be right just put diff oil init to balance the viscocity up... i have heard of an apprentice @ another workshop near us who filled a diff with grease mind u the diffs in the crap we work on are like the size of an engine & take 22l of oil....

i was refering to the guy i work with

Pretty sure its design is refered to as a HERON head

you are correct

Funny looking pistons

Like Beemae30 said it helps swirl & controls the burn better. if u look clseley i kno the pix are crap quality but u can see the pattern ontop of the piston of how it fires from inside, out.... similar to a petrol with hemispherical head but obviously with no spark plug.

had some more eventfull jobs in the last few days lol it must be engine failure season as i have heard lots of other workshops are getting blown engines in a fair bit aswell as us

this boys and girls is when happens when a 4l 4cyl diesel which is limited to 2800rpm runs off oil & revs to about 6000rpm.... BANG

the two missing vavles were stuck in the piston, managed to get one out but other one is sorta disintigrated haha

post-76142-0-75463500-1316683960_thumb.jpg

this is the cyl that destroyed the above valves if u look closely u can see the one valve head i managed to get out..

post-76142-0-38040200-1316683894_thumb.jpg

in these two pics u can see where the valves have made contact with the piston but not quite enough to smash them although they are very bent.. almost looks like they are ment to be there but trust me they are not haha

next 2 are another engine 9 (one a 5 litre 4 cyl diesel) that come in on a hook, customer says the oil light came on and then the motor locked up... when we drained the sump we got bout 200ml of oil out of it, still a mystery where it went.....

thing that amazed me the most bout this enigne is that there is absolutely no sign of any oil in the cylinder/on the piston, the metal is super clean but just all broken up obviously from the force of the crank trying to push it up the bore as it grabbed the liner

post-76142-0-36490300-1316684004_thumb.jpg

this one one is just a pic of that spray pattern i spoke about in another post.. pretty interesting to see the spray pattern of the injector & how the cobustion takes place in this stye of enging (one again heron type piston) i dont kno why it is so dry obviously from no oil but there is not much signs of new fuel either so i think it maybe had a leaning out problem as well which could have helped cause its destruction...

last one is just a Bloody AWESOME effort for stance made bout one of our good ol' portable oil pumps... is pretty mexican but has MAD camber haha, just needs some flares and "Moar" low with some tuck

Hope you enjoy my friends... nyaanyaa.gif

also thought id post up a pic of my toolbox working on my mrs car... i think at that time it was installing her sound system... either that or it was sixing a wiring issue which kept causing the intrument lights fuse to blow...

thing is a 1985 corona rt142... Sooooo much fun to work on & drive, very slow but just a comfly cruiser... trying to convince my mrs to get some coils & then some stance going... although this is not going too well lol...

will be painting it black soon i might post some pics & stuff i kno its not a skyline or even a nissan but its still fun

enjoy . . .they are a good car and good engine to work on. . .( similar in some ways to a RB30E) i rebuilt the 22re in my (now) ex wifes car,ran it on BP100,advanced the base ignition timing, threw on a set of extractors and it was right for another 200,000ks  a nimble and economical car

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
