Guys, I was going to buy Garrett gt35r then saw this precision ceramic dual ball bearing turbo with billet compressor wheel which is rated 700hp. need 400rwkw on built rb26. Google it and there are many pros about this precision turbo. And authorized local dealer is Powertune Australia.

anyone using this precision turbo? need some advises from turbo gurus' whether should stick with GT35R or go with 6265. dont want it to be too laggy .

The precision turbos seem to be less laggy than the equivilents in garrett speak, but they want 35psi to do their thing.... It just depends on if you want to build a setup to cope with 35psi in order to make a pissy 400kw.

If you read the "who has over 400kw" thread you will see a dude with the forum name 'Fineline' who broke a lot of 35Rs making 400kw, but has since swapped it for a garrett 3788 twin scroll and is making the power much nicer now. I think it was doing it at like.... 19psi?

The twin scroll setup also made the 3788 very similar in spool to the 35R but seems to have a bucket more power available. Personally I would be chasing that.

Just built an RB26 for a guy using one of these for the first time instead of a GT35R and I can tell you it is a frickin monster! 600rwhp @26psi and equivalent response to the 35R. The biggest difference is the GT35R won't live a long and happy life at those power levels.

35PSI???? no way Im gonna use 6265 then. gt3788 sounds good

He's only saying 35psi because he's exagerrating from the fact most of the PT results he'd have seen would have been from shxtty 4cyls which NEED 30+psi to get around 600whp. They do still definitely tend to have a bit of a high boost bias over the standard GT series Garretts though, more aligned to higher boost for the equivalent power levels than Garretts you'd go for to make the same power. On an RB26 I'd expect a PT6265 to be not too bad, though I'm dubious that it'd spool as good as - let alone better than a GT35R, albeit not necessarily much in it.

The ForcedPerformance HTA range are worth a look, too...

So PJ's SR20 has made nearly 485rwkw on upper 30's boost, with a 6265 but on a well built RB26 on 35psi, it will only make 400rwkw..........

HKS sam, the 6262 is a closer match for the 35R if your worried about response

Also on the same boat as you. Im finding the same kinda info. Some people have had dramas with them, where other swear by them. Seems to be big in the evo community. I think im just gonna go out an try one. Still dont know if i wanna run 6265, or the 6765 (TO4Z comparison). Also have a read through this!

Seem to throw out alot of assumptions on where the turbo will fail, but it seems they dont fail. I know the older plain bearing ones use to. But owell i reckon its a gooer :)

Noel (Fineline) ended up making 565 on 24psi I think but it's having some wastegate problems so the boost has been tapering off to 16 and making about 520. That's on E85 though.

so what fuel did the 35r make that power on.

im also looking at a gtx 35r but i only can run pump because i live out in the sticks!

im making 470rwhp at 26psi thru a gt3582r on stock rb25det. u would crack 520+ with cams on a stock 26. on prob 22-24psi

Hey Dan isnt noel running elfex? I though it had a lower ocatance rating compare to straight sucrogen e85?

GT3582Rs don't like being pushed too hard because they have big frame/shaft sized wheels in a small frame/shaft sized cartridge . Garrett do make large frame ball bearing GT3576R and GT3582Rs as OE diesel spec turbos for Hino Isuzu etc but I'm not sure if the 6 year exclusive rights thing is up yet and they use larger GT40 family housings both sides - and the larger T4 International sized mounting flange .

As has been mentioned the large framed GT37BBs are probably good things for high outputs and you can look at them as a slightly smaller brother to the GT4088R .

With the BB37s you have three compressor options and from memory the mid sized one uses the same 82mm 56T wheel as the GT3582R , only this time the cartridge is larger longer with a bigger shaft and bearing section . Also from memory these larger frame units use a threaded bore compressor wheel rather than a plain bore and jamb nut .

The big frame units are beefier all round and pretty much push you towards that larger T4I flange and preferably twin scroll turbine housings .

Some even have twin integral wastegates , cheers A .

I dont have an ideal setup, so take this post with a grain of salt, but I've got a 6262 journal bearing with a .58 T4 rear on my RB30. Boost doesnt come on until ~3600. And then power is dropping off around 5500 due to the rear end. With a rear end that small, I was expecting something a whole lot more responsive. I'm not even going to bother with a different turbine housing, I'm ditching it in favour of a GT35R or GT30R.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.    
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.        
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
