zebra
By the looks of that youre pretty much sorted. On thing I can pick is using the ctandard con-rods which will limit you to around 7000rpm and be safe and the N1 oil pump measn you wont be able to do rev limiter skids Apart from that and it isnt a biggie is that stainless high mount manifolds like to crack, and the cheap ones tent to have boost control issues. R32Abuser
As Zebra said, I think your limiting factor will be your pistons/rods (depending on how much boost and the fuel you want to run). IIRC the ACL "forged" pistons are not actually forged - I could very well be wrong, but I remember reading something along the lines of this in the RB30 thread... Also to note - be wary of the condition of your valve-train (lifters mainly!). I may be having issues with my setup caused by ageing valvetrain or insufficient spring stiffness/seating pressure. At an absolute minimum get your head reco'd whilst its off and out of the car. Gerg_R31
Cp or Je pistons would be better then the acl stuff Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6053568 Share on other sites
RB30TI
Thanks For the input fella's. Ive had the car running with the bottom end set up how it is for awhile now just With a RB30et running probably 200Rwkw. The piston are 8.5cr, the rods are ACL but not H-Beam or anything, i was fairly sure the pistons were forged?? The heads got new valves and stronger springs and was recod but the same can't be said for the lifters Any idea of power figures? Harey
I suppose the question is how hard do you want to run it? Turbo is capable of between 330-500rwkw Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6053760 Share on other sites
bubba
Two things I will mention, I just got some Reimax gears for my N1 pump, for AU$430 delivered it would be something to think about doing. Get a decent sump just for safetys sake, I run an ASR 6.5L baffled/gated item. Power? Probably looking at ~350rwkw? RB30TI
I would be happy With 330-350 atw Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6053835 Share on other sites
zebra
the ACL pistons are made by ROSS, there is nothing wrong with them Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6053878 Share on other sites
Gerg_R31
Agree there is nothing wrong with the Ross, acl/mahle pistons, they will do the job, personally from what I've seen cp & je are equally the better quality piston Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6054113 Share on other sites
Harey
I would be happy With 330-350 atw You could make that with a GTX3076 with a lot better response. Depends what you want out of the car. RB30TI
I Would like a SAFE 330-350rwkw but more is always welcome just want to know what's the most I could get out of this set up safely. RB30TI
And the car is only a streeter and on the strip from time to time but no track work intended Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6054643 Share on other sites
felixy69
Pretty much u gt it all I would suggest upgrade gears....stock 5spd rb25 gears might be easy to break depends on how u drive ! But looking at ur self up .... I don't think u would go easy on it lol ! GTRsean
Maybe also a crank collar would be a good idea...... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6055100 Share on other sites
zebra
how did we miss that!? lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6055107 Share on other sites
RB30TI
I did buy a crank collar but never installed it, what is involved? Stupid question but what does the crank collar actuly do? :S Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6055147 Share on other sites
Gerg_R31
Machining the snout of the crank and original oil pump drive, press fitting on, drilling and tapping 2 grub screws, Gives more surface area to connect with on the oil pump and yeah how did we miss that Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6055259 Share on other sites
TiTAN
another thing that may be an issue, the 3" exhaust is going to start to be a restriction if you push that turbo Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/379600-the-31-rb30det-restrictions-power-weak-points-this-build/#findComment-6055376 Share on other sites
KiwiRS4T
Do you have the VCT connected and running? Is that a Garrett 35/40 or a copy ( I thought Garrett woulkd be .63 rather than 70 exhaust). Should make 350kw ok maybe more with a really good tune. 3.5 or 4in exhaust would be good. What about a pic of your mint one owner car?!!
