put a deposit down on a 2001 Honda S2000 today ^______^

Awesome ! I think (recalling some posts in the spotted thread) you live around where I do, I'll keep an eye out :D

Colour?

nice, agree with roof down / another guy = homo

other than that nice buy can I ask how much you got it for? pm if preferred

always liked them but wasn't sure about the power, people that have driven them say they're great

Yeah I remember you spotting me before. It's grey/silver

I'm paying $19,700, which is a good price for a 2001 model and it's in top condition.

As for the power... it's not amazingly fast but it is quick for a 2.0 N/A, it would certainly give me GTS-T a good run for it's money. The thing that I like most about them is the handling and I always thought they were one of the best looking cars in that price range.

nice buy mate i'm sure it'll be heaps of fun through the twisties

what you folks reckon of these rims?

i like ssr professors but saw the 1k each price tag for 20s and felt a bit sick inside

Sexy colour on the S2k's. Hopefully will spot it sideways around bwd hwy from now on :P

I've only really heard good things about the s2k's - only possible downside is they do need to be rev'd to get places (but hey, half the fun? DAT REVRANGE :P). Never driven one myself, or even been in one before though, unfortunately. Regardless, I love the bonnet on those things, looks like it'll be a fun ride :)

Yeah it's a nice colour, I wanted a black one, in fact I was about to put the deposit on a black one tonight but I decided to look at this one first. Although it was my second choice colour, it was in much better condition, had a new roof, new clutch, good alarm, drove better and the owner was more negotiable on the price.

Maybe I should put an SAU sticker on it to see if I get spotted haha.

Get concave Leigh!

Or gtp rims I rkn they look good

which concave rims? I do like concave like XT7s but unfortunately don't come in 20s

GTP rims look worst than GS ones, I mainly want the stance / 10" rear

mirin vossens but don't think they have australian dealers:

(Y), usually love black cars, but like Birds said, I do quite like the s2k in silver.

liking the vossens also. did a quick google, found a thread where "a bit hard to find in aus. when i contact vossen in usa, they directed me to a distributor in nz. luckily i found tyrepower in hawthorn who stock vossens (and work, rays, etc). nice guys who are more like car geeks than people running a business".

so where there's a will, there's a way? :P

Silver and red are the best S2k colors IMO. Black falls short for some reason, don't think it's a very good black...car is too small for it or something.

Yeah I wanted red interior, but I ended up with black. The red wears out much faster but does look nicer. Hopefully some come up on ebay of something and I can change them over.

lol, that's funny cause, when I was looking at one just over a year ago, it was a silver with red interior and the latter was the only thing I wasn't too keen on. Everything about it was absolutely mint...best looking paint in photos and 90,000km on the clock. By the time I got round to deciding yes, it sold on me :(

thanks for that.. i might go down and see them

don't remember the thread date though, so maybe worth a call before driving all the way down!

and if they've got an nz distributor, shouldn't be too much to vic? not sure.

    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
