nice, new cars with options definitely add on a bit of price but considering you'll have it for a while I reckon it's a good idea to get all the fruit - plus down the track it'll be easier to sell. At least you still got the cube until you get the BRZ!

Grant, your gonna have to look for something else considering you dont have a car can't be waiting a year with no car!

Was told GT manual in Grey is 13 months wait.

Told the salesman there is no way I'm waiting this long for 30 grand Toyota.

Leigh, agree I'll go to couple of big-ish Holden/Ford dealer to suss Commo SS/XR6T and see if I like it or in coming days...

Same bloke I met today, he told me the power of 86 is 170kw when it's in fact 147kw...

Not sure if I'm prepared to stretch more for BRZ but given there's 13 months wait, I suppose I could save up a bit by then.

Yeah, he's full of shit. I told him not to bother telling me about the car, I knew more than he did.

If you do go for a BRZ, be prepared that you can only order online and they'll be holding onto $3000 of your money for as long as it takes for the car to arrive...

I'm happy to answer any questions you have, I did a lot of research before I committed to buying the car.

Yeah exactly. Not going to bother advertising it until I have a confirmed production date for my BRZ. The Cube almost costs nothing to run. I fill up with $50 worth of 98 Octane probably every 6 weeks and it's reliable as anything.

Like I said, there's surplus and unallocated stock coming in to other dealers, you just have to ring around. Croydon & Lilydale Toyota both had a GT they would be willing to let you test drive without laying down a ridiculous deposit.

Shit, Subie Docklands even let me take their limited edition, very rare BRZ out on a 45 minute test drive without them in the car.

When will you be in Hong Kong? I'll be there mid-November to early December.

well first trip is going to be 6-9th dec with Katie and her mum

doing Philippine first.

Boracay for a week with me diving and her and mum chillaxing

then a few days with tehir family in land

a couple days in manila

then HK as HK is awsome!

then when I get back I have another 6 trips to HK and macau over the next 4-5 months.

just not sure of dates yet.

Only online orders for the BRZ?

Thing is, there is no way I'm prepared to wait long time for a car, I guess it's my impatient nature... And I like to see what I'm buying.

Juliette, thanks for that will have to ring around like you said.

I'll just miss you then. I'm leaving Hong Kong on the 1st of December.

I went GT because the options were not required for what I wanted the car. Waste of money to be honest. I have spent about 4grand and the car looks 50times better than any GTS/BRZ

If I were to get a 86, I'd want basic one, didn't you used to have 33 gtst?

If so, could you share your experiences between these two?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. The Subie is a much rarer beast, the demand they always knew would outweight the supply so they didn't market it and made it so you can only order online. It's first come, first served unlike Toyota which depends on which dealer you go to how many orders they have vs how many Toyota Australia allocate them. From what I remember something like 1500 Toyotas are coming in next year and 400 Subarus. There's only one factory that makes them and they can only produce a total of 100,000 per year which gets gobbled up very quickly by countries such as the US.

And that's fair enough too! This is my first new car, it'll be daily driven and I wanted the comforts of a nicer interior, nicer exterior, bigger brakes, etc. For someone who is going to modify the shit out of it the GT would be a better base as it's mechanically the same (minus brakes.) My transmission choice also meant if I went for a GT I would've missed out on an LSD.

Waffles are just amazing!! Blue waffles... Not so.

Alex - I was going to come past yesterday but got held up elsewhere, maybe tomorrow after work?

Mint waffle place at Harrington square I'm told.

Yeh tomorrow for sure Ill be in office to 6.15 then got meetings

Yer 33's gone now. It's nice to have a new car.

I had a fair amount of $$ spent on suspension on the 33, the 86 feels just as good standard. In terms of looks, that's self explanatory, a few of my own touches and the car looks amazing. It's a bit disappointing that the car is slow, dyno runs are coming in at 150hp, needs at least 220-300 to be really fun.

Going Japan next weekend so there's a chance I could buy injectors, headers and exhaust lol

Nice! Cusco, TRD and Beatrush have lots of nice braces available. Whereabouts are you going in Japan? If you're in Tokyo visit Super Autobacs Tokyo Bay and head up to the bookshop. They should have plenty of 86 magazines :)
