Hey Paul,

Did you sell that carbon shaft? or still have it? did you get it balanced? or didnt need to?

Hey man.

Still have it in the garage. Got it balanced by some mob, put it back in. It was better but not perfect. The stock one is back in the car now. I sent an email to ACPT and got nothing back. To be honest I forgot all about it.

Great stuff Paul, and those data logs are interesting. Has me wondering if anyone has thought of putting a dynamic tensioner on the timing belt to try and keep the cams more stable.

The EJ20s uses a high tension spring loaded tensioner on the slack side of the belt to take up the belt stretch when the engines RPM accelerates. It makes sense for those motors as the belt is a lot longer than an RB26 belt. It would be worth looking at how the 1UZFE handles belt tension too, as well as they have a crazy long belt.

Ian, I remember you saying something about te EJ's at the Nats.

Thats a good little something I can do when it's on the dyno next. Take a short movie with the Cam gear cover off to show how much the belt flops around. It's actually quite disturbing! Out of sight out of mind right? pinch.gif

When is it going back onto the dyno Paul ?

sounds like mine, still not even sure if it fits

Looked at mine the other day and contemplated sending it back to Oz but common sense took over as I reached for another beer and shaft was thrown to back of storage shed.

Paul head is not far off. Machining started on other parts.

Very interesting thread !!

Within the next few weeks. Just to turn the EBC on and screw some boost into it. See what it makes before the new head arrives.

HKS Vcam? I'd laugh if that allowed you a choice of 3 gears for any corner!

Sell it Marcus. Ebay that shit. I felt the difference and it was awsome but it didn't work as it should!

Can't wait for this head! Bring it on!!!!!!!!!

Oh. Don't get me thinking. VCam would be UNREAL! The difference between RS's and -5's was just amazing.... V cam ontop would be unreal..... What about a 3.0, V cam and -5's.! Say hello to area under the curve!

    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
