Hi guys,

Along with AJD Adelaide in late Feb, and AJD Sydney in November, we're considering dates in April for a Melbourne event if you guys are keen to have us over there.

Anyway, we wanted to get discussion rolling, and start looking at venues. Albert Park was mentioned as one of them, as was Caribbean Gardens.

If you have any suggestions for where and when, we're all ears :)

Cheers

Kristian

Albert Park would be suitable as it associates with the Grand Prix being there, hence the car theme.

Would be more central so it would be easier for the people from the West / North to get there.

Caribbean Gardens is in the South East.

Parking there is mostly grass and gravel, Albert Park is mostly asphalt unless we park on the grass land areas.

Either area suites me fine as I'm from the East.

CG is FAR east... 30kms/30mins from CBD (if you take the toll roads).

40mins+ without. So you'll not get anyone from the west with any ease as it's over an hour.

Albert P will work - IF you can organise it, meaning the council are a mega PIA to deal with :)

Depends if you want a grass of asphalt surface.

The Toyota Car Club of Victoria ran its first Classic Japan day not too long ago and was a big success. Entries were limited to classic vehicles, however there are big plans for next years event which will welcome modern jap aswell as other various forms of JDM supporters (classic motorbikes, apparel etc).

Not trying to put a downer on this possible event at all but there wil definantly be atleast one big JDM Japan show'n'shine on next year. Just thought i would lewt you guys know! :)

What's your point?

No real point so to speak of, was just to let others know. In recent years there hasn't really been a big modern jap show for victoria. Just hope they dont clash is all, but highly unlikely.

I think Albert Park would be harder to arrange with the local council and they are pretty well against anyone parking on the grass, it's also a little painful to access without driving through the city which isn't good for visitors with borderline roadworthy vehicles .. on the other hand Caribbean Gardens is easy to access from any direction even if it is a little bit of a drive for people way out west (but surely its worth the drive?) and has a lot of nice grassy areas and more relaxed requirements that would suit a car show well.

Otherwise if you prefer a tarmac surface and want something in the city then there is always that area near docklands where the failed "car fair" was for a few weeks. It's just under the Bolte Bridge and around the corner from CostCo. I am not that keen myself but it could be worth putting on the table for a vote.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
