After reading this thread again, people said it was seen in edwarstown and on south road? I saw a white one in rough condition tonight on a tow truck was passing by turbo tune at about 5:15pm. can't say I remember the rims only got a glance, but I think it had the n1 front bar . didn't think much of it woulda followed it, n got a photo if I had thought of this thread.

Was prob my car on the way to the port. Heaps happy

Great news

Now, shed some details...

Car was found in the back of someone's shed with another one, not sure if the other one was stolen or owned by whoever was at the house, was in the process of stripping it back things missing like battery interior bits compliance plate was taken not 100% sure what else, cops said probaly couple of grand to get it going again but he said he couldn't tell of there was any major issues like blown engine or anything. So was wondering does victim of crime come into play here???? Also the parts were possibly being moved onto the car it was with so it will prob be a bit before I get it back because they have to go through the cars etc

Same thing happened to my dato 1600 which had an fj20t in it...this is going back to 1998.

The car was found and stripped like your gtr, the guy was unemployed so legally I couldn't get a cent out of him and as my solicitor explained "its like squeezing blood out of a rock".

To his day he still owes me 8k but I decided to let it go after a few yrs as it is no worth putting my family in potential danger, i would retaliate much harder which isn't a good thing.

I got my car back minus the pieces as they were sitting in his house. The issue was that I couldn't prove those bits were mine + the numbers were already done on the chassis and block so I had to identify the car with 40 unique markings prior to seeing the car again - I noted over 100 markings.

Our law sometimes protects the thief more than us.

itd be nice to know how the cops knew where it was... whether it was a stake-out, informant, accidental.... whether they were actually working for their money or waiting for it to fall in their lap..... but i know they'll never reveal their trade secrets

Yeah I'd like to know what the go is, if they caught someone or got tipped off or what but i doubt they will tell me, just hope to get all the bits they took off it back, it wasn't much from what I was told it was mainly interior stuff but they did take the compliance plate off so not sure what I'm going to do there. Thanks for the offers with parts I'll have to let ppl know what I'm after when I get it back but I do know it has no battery and the ignition stuff is obviously really screwed but overall I'm happy to get it back in one way or another.

I'm bit confused as to why we pay victims of crime levy if you have to try and get the money back from someone who has no assets of job? Shouldn't it just come from the levy we pay when we do our rego?

you're best of talking to a lawyer about the victims of crime stuff, but i have heard of people being payed out for ridiculously minor things. surely something could be done if you've had your car stolen and stripped. just go find a lawyer offering a free first consultation and see what they say :P

VOC levey gets paid on every single fine that gets issued and is payable usually to people who have gone through assaults and have pain and suffering be it physical or mental, side note the accused has to be found guilty also

Best bet to call the legal aid commission

No it doesn't.....however, it won't be classed as "illegal use" (usually a slap on the wrist) because they didn't go for a joyride and burn it....they actually kept it and stripped parts off it.

It now becomes "grand theft auto"........heavier penalty for them and better chance for you to claim material damages but they'll probably still only get a kick up the bum instead of a slap on the wrist.

A lot of you may remember years ago when the laws first changed from an automatic theft charge to an illegal use charge (much softer penalty, if any).

...and it's all because some smart arsed lawyer set a precedent in place by successfully defending some little thieving prick by convincing the judge that he merely 'borrowed the car' and had full intention of returning it.....what a load of cock!!

If you were living in Africa you could ask the judge to have one of his hands cut off and the judge may actually oblige your request >_<

Laws are pretty soft in this country when it comes to car theft unfortunately.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
