Hi All,

Who wants an international standard race track and motorsports facility at Avalon?

The debate is hotting up and the more public support this gets, the more likely the Government and private business is to fund it.

Some potential plans for the track and complex have been drawn up and they look awesome - check them out at this Facebook page and be sure to 'Like it' to show your support.

Cheers

Dave

Where is the debate exactly?

I only ask as the FB page has only "7" likes... Not much of a debate.

Umm, I didn't say anything about the debate being on the Facebook page - I just said this was where the information on the track was. The general 'public debate' is what I was referring to.

Go easy on me - I'm just trying to create a bit of public support and a space for people to share ideas - the page has only been live for two hours, so 7 likes isn't bad so far!

is this the new Motorvate melbourne crowd?

ie wanting to build a track/drag strip at avalon either with gov support, bobjane/lindsay fox or combo?

ie the one that has been going for 5-6 years now???

admittedly they are more drag orientated now but yeah?

this "new" one who is behind it?

sponsors, major players/organizers?

race teams backing you?

little more info if you want our support.

else we could just create a

lets make prinny highway a street circuit...

don't get me wrong I'm all for more tracks in vic and the better quality, but want a bit more info b4 I throw my support

Also curious the link SAU has with this??

Yeah, fair enough.

To be clear, SAU has no links with this page and nor does any other organization - it's just an attempt to draw together the information that is out there and create some awareness about the proposals for the circuit. Nothing more than that.

Have a look and if you like it, 'Like' it, if you don't then don't.

Cheers

Dave

(Apologies that the SAU logo image was left over from developing the page: it has been removed now. The SAU track images were an idea that the club could sell/give as decals to people who participated in track days and were not related to that page)

i reckon something on the motorkhana scale would be a good thing to try and get off the ground. Small enough that it would be feasible, and then once that is shown to be a sucess, you leverage that to push for a more comprehensive facility closer to urban centres.

Sounds like another Motorvate..... i.e. fail

I dunno though, with the backing of CAMS this one may have a bit more behind it, but I'd imagine the $200m might be a problem given that the state Government are broke. It just needs someone in there who can visualise the potential and realise that there is a gap in the list of world class sporting venues in Melbourne.

We live in hope!

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
