Has any of you Stagea owners had much experience with retro-fitting Nissan factory options into your cars such as the TV Tuner, parking sensors or reversing cameras (if you managed to find one)?

Or is it simply easier to go aftermarket?

Currently in the process of importing an M35, but finding a car with all the bits you want is a hard ask. Specifically for us, it would be great to have cruise control (which I see someone is providing a solution for) and a reversing camera. I would have thought that Nissan would do one loom that can fit all options, so generally it would just be a matter of mounting the hardware and plugging into the loom.

Any thoughts, feedback or experience?

Cheers

Brendan

Do not get Factory Cruise control unless you only like to drive on a highway at a max speed of 100km/h

All the extra's can be fitted locally.

In some respects having a single Din stereo from the factory opens up the options significantly.

The factory cruise control has a max speed setting of 100kM/h, the aftermarket kits do not.

I think it is actually 110km/h but by the time you have around 10% speedo error it is closer to an actual 100km/h.

I set my after market cruise at 114km/h (actual off GPS) and cruise past any cops.. (NSW it is safe to do this)

Just go aftermarket.... Looms are sometimes there but leather seats got changed in mine from stock.....and now no heated seats.

The fly by wire cruise control works great, had one installed in my 09 ranger after the factory one was recalled. Works from 30kms to 140kms well. 5km increments are hard to work out but you will get it eventually.

i have a full loom of the entire car (minus engine bay) and tv tuner, DVD nav, screen etc. if youre interested

according to some people the looms arent there, but i rekon all the plugs are there ready to put it all in!

Reverse camera on a stagea :/. Are people down there not taught how to drive?

Sorry but if you need a reverse camera you clearly shouldn't be driving at all.

Over here you mean, yes we are. But this will predominantly be driven by my wife, and anything to reduce the potential for damage is a good measure by me ;) I'm not saying my wife can't drive, but reversing into tight parking bays is not here strong suit - however having had two large cars (740iL and CX-9), she's certainly had enough experience albeit with parking assistors (camera, sensors).

Hahaha, someone's firmly got a hold of your goat (remember that emails are still sent with the original message). Your response was a little harsh indeed, so I'll just ignore it. Note that an M35 Stagea is quite a lot larger than a Sirion.

Lol. I don't get those emails :/. But in all seriousness I understand why people get them but the stagea is one of the easiest cars I've ever parked. My wife actually says its just as easy as parking her hilux. but I do have a reverse camera in my stagea, in the front bumper lol, something enjoyable about watching the road fly past 6 inches off the ground.

Dont take my response too seriously. I had a women spend 15 minutes trying to park a land cruiser last night and that was with a reverse camera.

Ive had my M35 for around 4 years and still find it a prick to parallel park into a tight spot, hard to judge were the tail gate is.

Reversing camera looks ugly but would be handy.

You can buy ones that replace one of your number plate lights (with an integrated led light) and you can barely see it. I have one waiting to go in atm, but I'm pretty sure someone else has one on.

What brand/where did you get it from Dale? I assume following the simple rules on this m35info forum thread is the way to go:

BTW, do you need the TV tuner in place to have a camera?

Yay, just got word that we won the auction. 2002 Nissan Stagea 250t Rs Four V Hicas (102,000kms), Grade 4/B, in Silver with Black Leather and Aero kit.

It has the Single DIN factory stereo in it with the 3 gauges above it. The question about factory options, can you fit the steering audio buttons retrospectively? Or easier to just replace the steering wheel with them on (unless of course the steering wheel has some form of keyed security in it).

Certainly can retrofit the button controls and wire them up with the integrated head units... not 100% on the single DIN unit like you have.

Nice purchase by the way. Black leather looks nice for that interior :)
