cherring
How can I obtain the papers for the importation of my car? I think that I am probably the third owner since it's been imported so obviously I don't even know who would have imported it. Where would I start? Calsonic14U
Hey mate, i had the same trouble when i brought my R33 from adelaide and coverted to NSW rego. Any place that can do blueslips (If your NSW) Can ring the RTA and request all the information you req. Apparently they do this anyway due to some dodgy importers importing to many cars. And if your car is one of them it will never get re registered. Hope this helps. Duncan
The agency that holds the import papers is the federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport, used to be called DOTARS. Their details are here: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/utilities/contact.aspx THey will have the import approvals on file, my mechanic recently needed a copy of my Stageas ones Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/389333-import-papers/#findComment-6204623 Share on other sites

Do they happily supply people with the respective documents or do you have to go through the Freedom Of Information crap? Do they keep the compliancing info too? If not how would you be able to get a copy of that? Thanks, Bob. cherring
Would also like to know. Id love a copy, just to add to the folder. Ok so I called the number on the website, they said to email [email protected] and someone will contact you in a day or so. That email address is not on the page so I'd say just email that, we'll see how long this takes. Duncan
Bob those guys are unlikely to give out import papers for ADM cars, both cars I have papers for were SEVS (or the previous scheme) low volume imports Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/389333-import-papers/#findComment-6209039 Share on other sites

I wasn't thinking about my car I was thinking about a JDM that I will eventually buy. It would be nice to have as part of its history as would the compliancing documents. Do you think they would issue that for a JDM import? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/389333-import-papers/#findComment-6209405 Share on other sites
cherring
Ok so this was pretty much a bust. They send you a letter confirming that the approval for import of your vehicle on the date it was granted. Due to "privacy" you can't get anything more than that it seems, so it's kinda useless except to aid in registration.
