I have seen the R31 GTSR style low mount manifolds, and am toying with the idea of if i change my high mount setup, to go for something low mount.

I havent seen too many low mount kits that use an external gate, including the R31 GTSR, with this style of manifold what the biggest turbo you can mount down there... physically biggest not biggest hp.

Which brings me to my next question...anyone have a feel for say a 600hp turbo, which is physically smallest of the similar flowing Garrets, IHIs, Trust turbos etc etc.

I was after the same answer Roy. I want to put a HKS 3037s (when i find one, which may end up being new) on a low mount setup on my RB31DET in my R32.

Ive been told numerous times "All Jap manifolds are highmount, you have to get a custom one made up" So i emailed GCG. Nope - dont do it.

Have to find someone willing to do it, which could end up in a manifold that wouldn 't produce desired results.

Give this guy a try.

[email protected]

he has a few things he has made on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=2474555532

His work looks great, he is making up stock turbo location as well as high mount manifolds to suit RB20/25, and should have one ready within a month. I have been in touch via email a few times with him, seems like a honest person

Worth a try, hope it helps

Chris

I have seen R31 GTSR manifolds, original and replica for sale, and wouldnt be too hard to mod for an external gate... im more worried about fitting a dirty big turbo low down in the engine bay, in an R32 GTST the packaging would have to be pretty neat to fit everything in there with a big single.

heya thats chris, thats me

low mount manifolds are available but the biggest turbos you can fit are the 25 series (2530 2540) etc as the larger compressors foul on the engine mounts

in the near future i will have t3 dumps rb high mount and low ount manifolds

as soon as they are in ill make a post on the forums

cheers

Dylan

HKS do a lowmount cast iron manifold for RB20/25. I'm in the process of fitting a custom low mount manifold to an ECR33/RB25 - HKS GT3040 turbo. It's pretty tight, but fits. Will post up some pics when the manifold gets back from being coated.

i have what i beleve is a blitz low mount manifold and you can fit a 600hp turbo on it easily, as the runners bend up slightly, will look nice once ceramic coated

Clearing the block is one thing, but then you have to worry about engine mounts/crossmembers and also the inner guard, im taking this is going in your weapon Clint? Can i ask what turbo you are slapping on the side of it...clears the inner guards and everything elase ok?

Well on mine, (because the rb31det is ~1 inch higher) I assume there would be a small amount of more room in there.

Well nothing a ball pein hammer cant fix :)

I'm pretty sure someone at advan di alot of work on the manifold that ended up in ben ellis's 34 GTT, and that was a low mount with a 600hp XTR single turbo.

Ash (R31nismoid) from this forum has just mounted a GT30 onto a low mount GTS-R manifold and modified it to accomadate an external wastegate.

Although his was installed on an R31 I do know he also had a tight fit.

He might be able to give a few hints/ pointers.

I have seen R31 GTSR manifolds, original and replica for sale, and wouldnt be too hard to mod for an external gate...

1stly, sorry i didnt read this thread sooner lol!

No they aint hard at all to do...

I've got a Garret GT30 with a .82 Rear housing and a Turbosmart 45mm Pro-gate

low mounted onto my RB25 in the R31 GTS-R

Also i think SydneyKid has a GT30 low mount too.

And Matlowth is running a Hybrid which is also of reasonable size in his R33-t

Attached is a pic of my manifold and i've put the arrow is where we cut it to plumb up the Ext Gate.

(sorry about the quality)

As you can see this was on the inside of the manifold rather than out the outside.

This was purely for the stealth approach, and as such.

You can see nothing at all.

No Gate, No turbo, no nothing. It's all hidden under the manifold itself.

I think dimensionally the GT35's are the same size too,

So you could even fit one of them in there.

It is most certainly a very tight fit though, but yes, it can be done.

We had to shave a few mm off the block near the welsch (sp) plug on the gallery

to get the gate in but other than that it cleared all mounts just.

The package is yet to see an EBC and proper dyno time to see what is going on as it's only making an apparent 122rwkw...

It feels as strong as the old turbo when i was making 190rwkw so basically it's still in the very early stages.

A lot of R&D that still needs to be done, but im sure it'll be very effective yet very stealth once it is all complete

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
