Why do you guys think this will be anything like Group A?

V8 supercars is one of the most heavily homologated racing categories, slowly turning into NASCAR. If the Nissan entry lays the smackdown on anything you can thank the drivers...the engine and chassis will be afforded no significant advantages over the existing Holden and Ford setups.

After changing the rules to exclude the GTR, you can be sure Folden won't be making the same mistake again. As Birds said, it's not going to be anything like the exciting Bathurst races of yesteryear with the turbo 6 AWD dominance over local V8 FRs. It's going to be all V8 FRs similarly engineered. The Nissan entry will be some bastardized V8 Maxima or equivalent, that bears little resemblance to the factory car. There won't be a GTR or 370Z - Folden will make sure of that, so that they don't get thoroughly embarassed like 2 decades ago. Personally I find the most exciting races the ones with a potpourri of different cars, layouts, engines, etc. like Best Motoring races, but that's never going to happen at a professional sponsorship level. Too many variables.

considering it will be the v8supercar "car of tomorrow"

so will be a 4 door with a 5L pushrod v8..mmm technology

then they will hang their own panels on, (guessing maxima??)

same as when 888 racing changed from ford to Holden, they put some new panels on the other car.

be curious to see which team it is tho, GRM are talking running a diff manufacturer (ie they want some-ones cash)

either way under the skin every car from next year will be exactly the same

You can say V8 supercars is boring in it's current setup but, I'll tell you what else is boring...the same car and drivers winning every single race. You might root for Nissan to become a dominant force in it, but you and the rest of the fans will stop watching after about 10 consecutive wins...the same thing happens with every sport. This is why homologation exists. Also so that the wealthiest teams don't just come in and wipe the floor with everyone else because they can afford the better technology. V8 supercars, like NASCAR, is focused on the driver being the catalyst.

Just a side note too...V8 supercars are no slugs...I don't know why people pay out on them. Their laptimes around Australian circuits are regularly higher than production car races, topping all but the most expensive/fastest and well driven euro Supercars around the track. This is done with a pushrod V8 in a stripped out / race prepped family sedan using a live rear axle...like I said and you can quote me on it later: Nissan aren't going to storm the series with uber technology, this isn't a VN Commodore versus an R32 GTR. It's just another brand for more fans.

Personally I find the most exciting races the ones with a potpourri of different cars, layouts, engines, etc.

Makes a race more interesting that way.

Cause marketing will make you want to think a 4 door performance car can compete with a super car.

So same mechanics, different body shells...

Modifying a 4 door Nissan and not using there high performance tier cars...

Most probably a 'meh' response from a general point of view.

I used to watch the V8's religiously but since the cars are so far removed from their road counterparts now the only one I watch is bathurst.

GT3 racing is where it's all at these days.

parity, running factory bodies and factory drive trains.(not always from that car however..)

plus some V8 utes just as they keep crashing

The model of Nissan that the team will use – and the engine package the car will utilise – will be announced at a later date.

so def not GT-R or 370, hmm maybe a tiida! or even cooler a micra chasing the v8 commo's

but yeah pretty sure it will be a maxima!

At least there will be a Nissan at the front of the pack at some stage during the year.

That's the course car being stickered at the moment.

They do not have to use a pushrod V8, they can use a modern V8 engine, it is just subject to "parity" adjustments.

      A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!

      Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
