Now THIS is what I'm talkin about! Where is Sutton Road and where do I get more info?! Brakes will defo be on by then!!

Whose car is that in the vid above Stevo?

I'll be putting up two threads for this asap. One is entry thread with forms and list of who's in, second will be info on the location and pics and vids from past trips there.

It's just on this side of Canberra, so we all go down the night before and go to a pub thats walkable from the caravan park/motel place we stay at. You can figure how that night ends for yourself. Bring the boss with you if you want, make a weekend out of it and stay the night after the event then go home the next day.

That video is an old club member who moved interstate, from memory it's a stock turbo on high boost, otherwise stockish R34GTT. Those days a high 300kw car was rare. I think he had something like 200rwkw, so yeah the GTR's with built engines and aftermarket turbos will really enjoy this place. It's just like an old pac/nasho drive but legal to go over 60 and no one ever coming the other way

Trust me, you (and anyone else really) will love this place. I am SO excited to be going there again

Sounds like it in every gear.

We could only hear it as it was leaving the gate and close to us - its not too loud, we couldnt hear it by the time you were at the first cone in each course?!

lol, descriptive!

It's true though, the best thing about Michael is that you only have to ask him once if he'd like to test a course for me early in the morning to see if it's fun or needs changing, or rip a heli. He always answers with a yes and a smile, the man just loves giving that car a hard time haha!

Michael was kind enough to take two of my mates (new to SAUNSW, one just bought a 260RS and the other is into BMW's) out for runs and well - they're both entering next time. Thanks again Michael :D

your welcome mate , any excuse to do a bit 4wd sliding  , I always say " drive it like you stole it, service it like you love it " and after this one it's going to need some TLC before the next one. bring on sutton road, hopefully I'll have the 34 done for that one.

GTR JOEY, hahaha yeah proble not, this car is a freak it just doesn't stop and given I rebuilt the motor in my garden shed i'm suprised it's still going given what I give it :domokun:

ball park cost? im already big kev excited for this one

Im working on that currently actually so cant say for now sorry! Wont be long and I'll have it figured out. It will be very typical of SAUNSW event's I've done in the past; loads of seat time for not much coin

wow great photo man, thanks for that! loved how grippy the surface was, meant you could really put the foot in and have a bit of fun :)

Wow man so many killer shots in your album, can't believe so many people bothered taking photos of me - I expected to be a bit of an outcast in my beat up 180 but really did feel welcomed by everyone

no worries, was my mates Pa taking them, is a bit of an amateur hobbyist with the camera, the ones taken around the car park were probably mine in between runs. Loved your 180 man, it wasnt pretty standing still but as soon as it got out there everyone turned their head and knew they were in for a show!

Slowly putting some pics up here. http://mrowston.500p...au_texi_12_2_12 Should have most up by tomorrow night. PM if you want any full sized original images

Cheers

nice, keep the pics coming people!

Another one on July 15th - Calendar marked?

mine is!

also this sutton thing, being doing track days for 7 plus years now, how have i never got the chance to go out there?! May cant come soon enough!

One of the officials took a nice shot of my Black R33 S2 (#23) with piles of smoke.. he was practising his photography... whoever that was, please hook me up with that picture? It would be much appreciated. (especially now because it seems of all the black gtst's there, there were barely any pics of my car)

Oh and to my buddy in #26, PM me for video please? ;o)

Hey mate that was me, I'm going to convert the photos and post up a few of the good ones with in the next couple of days

are skids allowed at Sutton Rd Steve?

and more importantly, ext gate?

Sutton Road is different, it's for times instead of smoke haha. So no, we arent allowed intentional drifting. Ext gate not allowed there either.

Their rules, not mine. They've had issues with noise complaints and cant afford to have any more - which is totally understandable.

    • LOL.... a good amount of people (not all) on that continent seem to know everything and like to measure things in bananas, football fields, statue of liberties instead of the metric system lol.
    • I assume the modules are similar enough, so if you've had no issues I don't see why I would. I have tried to find a wiring diagram for the FPCM / fuel pump circuit, but I can't find it anywhere. Otherwise, I would just do some wire cutting and joining at the FPCM and give the 12 V supplied to the FPCM directly to the pump instead. If you know anyone that could help with wiring diagrams, I'd be very happy
    • If it dies, then bypass. The task isn't difficult. I have one running on a standard R32 FPCM. That's after nearly 20 years of it running an 040, which pull substantially more current than the Walbro. They're not the same module, but I'd hope it indicates that the R33 one should be man enough for the job. I think people kill them when putting proper sized pumps on them, not these little toy pumps we're talking about here.
    • Silicone spray won't hurt anything. And if it does, that's an opportunity to put some solid steel spherical bushings in, so you can really learn what suspension noise sounds like, If you're going to try it, just spray one bush at a time, so you can work out which one is actually noisy. My best guess is that if the noise started only since putting the coilovers in, then it is just noise being transmitted up through the top mounts of the struts, and not necessarily "new" noise from bushes. But it's almost impossible to know.
    • Are you saying the 34 is SUV height, and not that we're talking about an SUV here? (because if we're talking about an SUV, you don't fix them. You just replace them when something breaks. Not worth establishing sufficient emotional connection with an SUV to warrant doing any work on one). I wouldn't jack my car up on a short little loop of 10mm steel rod poking out through a hole in the bumper bar, front or rear end. I realise that we're probably not talking about that type of loop at the front, being the one under/behind the bar on a Skyline.... but even for that one, trying to jack up on what amounts to a thin piece of steel, designed purely for withstanding a horizontal tension force, not a vertical compressive force (and so would be prone to buckling/crushing) and, my most particular bitch about it - located RIGHT AT THE EXTREME FRONT OF THE CAR, applying a load up through the radiator support panel, etc, with almost the entire mass of the car cantilevered between there and the rear wheels? Nope. Not doing that. Not on the regular. That structure out there in front of the front crossmember is not designed to carry load in the vertical direction. Not really designed to carry any load at all, really. The chassis rail that the tow point is connected to would be fine loaded in tension, as per towing. Not intended to carry the mass of the whole car, especially loaded all on one rail, with twisting and all sorts of shitty load distribution going on. No, I will happily drive up on some pieces of wood, thanks. That can only happen on driven wheels, and they are at the other end of the car, and this problem does not exist at that end of the car. And even then, I have been known to drive up on at least 1x piece of 2x8 each side at the rear, simply to reduce the amount of jack pumping necessary to get the car up high enough for the jack stands. What really really shits me about Skylines is the lack of decent places for chassis stands at either end of the car. You'd think they'd be designed into the crossmembers.
