Hey Guys,

Im in the process of looking for rims and i think im going to go for Lenso D1R's, just curious as to whether im better off going for 18"s or 17"s?

I just dont know which ones will fit better and fill up the guards nicely.

Cheers

i think im with you GTSBoy, i think ill run with the 17's but being only an inch bigger than the factory 16's I hope they dont look to small in the gaurds, would there be any problems with 18s scrubbing?

As for width im going 8"s on the front and 9.5"s on the back :)

IMO 18 x 9.5" are a good compromise for road feel.

but fitment is all dependant on an aggressive offset.

in terms of offset for a 17" wheel what would you recommend? another random question are the guards the same size between coupe and 4 door models?

Sorry im a bit of a noob when it comes to skylines this is my first one, used to working on kingswoods and commodores, thankgod i don't anymore :rofl2:

You should check out the wheel size thread (all 84 pages) at the top of the list - there should be plenty of 34s in there

Cheers mate saw that thread a while ago and completely forgot about it, i think ill be running with 17's

Once again, the diameter of the wheel has no effect on anything that has been asked about (except the look). The gap between the tyre and the guard should not be affected. The offsets required are not affected. The chance of "scrubbing" (whatever was meant by that) is no different.

If you use 18s then you should use a lower profile tyre such that the total diameter of the tyre is the same as the 17" would have been and what the original 16" was. You don't want to go outside the limits set by the road laws, or you are inviting defects. You don't want to introduce big speedo errors either.

/Rocket surgery.

If you intend to do a brake upgrade later on, then take size of your possible future rotors into account, that's basically the only thing that affects rim size other than looks

Valid Point.

Seeing as 18's dont change the overall diameter of the wheel as GTSBoy said, if i were to run 18's what would be a reasonable offset that will allow me to get away with rolling?

especially on a commodore looking 4 door 17 inch will look small

are you sir saying that an 4 door 34 looks like an commodore ?

I disagree with you I have an er34 gtt 4 door

Wheel specs Rears - 18x9.5 + 18 rears rolled and flared a tiny

Front 18x8.5 + 25 sit about 20mm in guards because of camber.

But before this I has 20x8.5 +38 all round

Not sure if this helps

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
