Hey all,

SAU-NSW are working with Top Secret Imports to bring you our next Tech night. The theme: Buying a car - the buyers' guide.

The night will be very laid-back - we'll have a BBQ going and some drinks (both at a small fee), catch up with old friendly faces, meet some new ones (and finally put faces to user-names), wander around the workshop/showroom, and hopefully learn some stuff in the process! Top Secret Imports have a wide selection of cars in their showrooms, ranging from Nissan Cubes to exotics like Lamborghini Gallardos and Maserati 4200GTs.

As often happens at these tech nights, there'll be some prizes handed out to a lucky few! (Details to follow.)

The details are as below:

Where: Top Secret Imports - 36 Forge Street, Blacktown

Venue map link: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=36+forge+st+blacktown&hl=en&ll=-33.751839,150.911671&spn=0.002103,0.004729&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hnear=36+Forge+St,+Blacktown+New+South+Wales+2148&t=h&z=19

Date: Saturday the 14th of April (the week after Easter).

Time: Arrive at approx. 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start

Food and drinks: A BBQ and drinks will be available for a small fee on the night

Who can come along: All are welcome - whether you're a club member or not, come along! All that we ask is that you let us know in this thread if you'd like to come along, so we can cater for numbers with food and drinks for the night. (If you'd like to join SAU-NSW as an official member, we'll have some forms ready for you to fill in, too.)

As this is an SAU-NSW official event, we will be covered under a CAMS permit.

Of course, as SAU-NSW actively promotes good behaviour, there will be NO tolerance for burnouts, loud music, cars racing or speeding, and/or anything else which will bring disrepute to the Club, either outside the venue itself or in the surrounding areas.

Damn can't make this one - MY engagement party that night! Better choose the woman over the car on this occasion...

Looks like a great event though, very fond of the guys at TSI who imported my GTR.

Oh man and I would save so much cash to spend on mods it would be awesome! I'll get you to tell her Luke ok??

You have to register?? I thought you just said in thisthread if you were coming??

I think its due to limited room in the warehouse and to cater for food and drinks as it will be going for a few hours

Well there's already 60 of a possible 40 people going :(

So Devo hah was keen to check out some cubes :D

I should be seeing the guys from TSI tomorrow (i.e. Easter Monday), so I will confirm.

Terry, I'll add you +4. :D

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
