I was just about to order myself a Link G4 Plugin today for my GTT! Im still keen on the Link but I'll have a look at these Adaptronics too, they didn't have anything for the GTT last time I checked.

really...no PFC even

..I know adaptronic have just released one....

Damn another free plug, I should be getting paid for this..

Do you even have all the supporting mods like FMIC, Fuel Pump, ECU, Injectors, Clutch, Diff, Oil cooler, Radiator, Coil packs, AFMs, a FULL fluid service from motor, gearbox to diff ???

Ive got a FMIC, Fuel Pump, Clutch, Coils, only a stock Dump Pipe

I'm fine with people not responding to this anymore unless you want to. I found some examples of what i was looking at and appreciate any helpful replies. I will continue to look into this.

thanks.

ECU

INJECTORS

FULL EXHAUST + HIGH FLOW CAT

EBC - BOOST CONTROLLER

The list will go on...

This forum is full of all the information you would need and there are some good examples in this thread...

The guys will have a joke and its simply the good SAU humour... But the info is already here for your taking so do some reading and good luck

Dont kill anyone

So you are basically only half way there in terms of supporting mods expenditure.

Spend the $3500, you are going to waste on a turbokit you cannot make any use of, on the remaining supporting mods you've missed. Then you'll be ready for a turbo upgrade.

I used to spend around that crazy amount on pc gear... back before I got a car... rewmeber it took nearly a year to save up for an Nvidia 7800GTX...

took up the one PCI slot plus was so big it covred an express slot below it and it was so heavy with it's massive heatsink I had to make a bracket to hold up one side.

If you are that paranoid about security I imagine you would have a fairly sofisticated firewall possibly behind a proxy with a dmz?

listen to what these guys are saying about mods, like a pc, you can't get some top of the line i7 with a mobo that has onboard gfx and wonder why u can't play any games with a good res and top antiantalising, the system is only as good as it's worst/cheapest component.

eg your clutch, what brand/model? you may have upgraded it and it may only be able to hold 240rwkw and your looking at 300kw+ turbos.

they were only released a few weeks ago..

At 1499 for the adaptronic the link still probably represents better value for money at 1600.

I think if the adaptronic would drop its price into the 12-1300$ range though It would be a great buy

Have you tried calling GCG Turbos or somewhere like that? They'd give you best advice on what turbo kit you need!!

I'd suggest you get a PFC before you get a kit first but...otherwise your kinda working backwards! And at least 550cc injectors...you don't want your injectors working 100% duty at 4500rpm lol

And thats easy 5g their before labour costs....sucks doesnt it hahaha laughing-smiley-014.giflaughing-smiley-014.gif

It was more that the Adaptronic comes with a usable 4 Bar MAP sensor, rather having to buy a bigger external one for the Link, and it also supports knock control where as you have to buy the KnockBlock for the Link, so with that in mind it's well priced. Still I have decided to get the Link anyway due to the software it uses.

Yes It is still good value, I just think they may be a more popular choice if the price was a little lower.. ;)

The only place I think it loses out over the Link is the the lack of full sequential. But this wasnt a big concern to me..

Trent was going to to do some tests with mine when on the dyno to see how accurate the knock control was too..not sure what happened to that  I will remind him next time..

but the added map sensor is definately a bonus and I'm using the inbuilt boost control too which was is easy as hooking it up to the stock solenoid, so there really is nothing else to buy, well the only other thing I needed to buy was an IAT sensor for 40$ maybe they will throw that in if you ask nicely..:)

.

While we are talking turbo upgrades, how do u think this set up would go. I have a s2 R33 with FMIC, Cat back, Pod filter. so im guessing around 180kw at 10psi. So if i was to get a nistune or pfc, a kando TD06 20G internal gate ( i wanna stay internal, i also know about hypergear but i want a kando) and a walbro or tomei fuel pump and run 15psi it should put me up around 230-240kw ? (50kw gain) That a pretty cheap upgrade. Plus other bits and pieces like a custom dump and obviously a tune. I just read the stock injectors will flow enough at 15psi in another thread. im not after 300kw but just something that will come on a bit later and harder than the stocker without breaking the bank and fuel economy.

Stock injectors won't make it past around 230rwkw and even if they do, you'll be loading up the fuel system big time, maxing injector duty etc.

If all you're after is ~250rwkw then, as ARTZ said, get an HG. From what we've seen the Kando internal gate setups aren't fantastic (yet), these turbos only seem to come alive in an external gate setup and then they have potential for a great top end...but that's probably overkill for you, given your modest power goals and desire to stay IG.

No its what you do when you spend 6k on a computer and optimise every component for performance.. none of these posts are at all helping.

$6K?

I built a:

Intel 2011 Socket 6 core "K" processor

Corsair 16gig Ram

Asus z78 Mainboard

2 x SSDs in Raid 0

Watercooling

Nvidia card worth $600

Coolermaster HAF-X Case

Corsair 1150watt Powersupply

Total cost was $2.5k.

If you're spending $6k on a computer, and you're an IT expert, you should leave this site and save us heaps of trouble becuase soon you will be a skyline expert asking us why your car stalls after you have fitted a chirpy, twisty, shiny, flappy ATMO BOV.

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
