Hey everyone, I'm new to all this, but I want to start looking for a skyline (even though I'm not even on my L's) and I want to spend alot of money on it to do it up. Since my dream car has always been a skyline, that's what I want. So I was wondering what would be the best P plate friendly skyline to get, like what are the ups and downs? Thanks guys. :)

V37 is the best N/A skyline atm imo.

Depends on what state you live in, if you are in a state with P-plate car restrictions then doing up an N/A R32-34 is just a waste of money.

V37 is uber hot.

Probably a little out of your price range.

If you go through the forums you will most likely find one answer most common.

Buy a cheap shit box, save your coin, and buy a turbo version when you've got your full license.

However, if you are extremely impatient, buy the one you like the look of most.

After all, when you can't go that fast, its all about looks.

Wouldnt buy a NA skyline to modify...maybe if your interested in suspension, Brakes and Cosmetics. But Motor is a big No NO ! the car is to heavy. But otherwise from my experince with R34 NA they drive nice and feel sturdy ! but dont pack a puch like the Turbo's (8 second 0-100). My advice is if your going to spend $$$ get a S2000 seriously its the way to go if you want speed and fun ! only thing its 2 seater so your mates will give you shit.

if you want to spend a lot of money doing a skyline up then wait till you have your opens and can drive a turbo skyline. doing mods to a NA skyline is a waste of money (especially if you plan on doing performance mods). NA skylines aren't that fast and will get beaten by plenty of other cars out there, if you are thinking you will be able to beat commodores, etc off from the lights

hey mate, you're a bit like myself, although I wanted a 350Z first up until I learned that they are on the P's restricted list. My mate let me drive his R34 GTT and I've pretty much been in love with the R34 since. For beginners, as many people have told me, don't bother getting a Skyline but I ignored them and got myself a 98 R34 25GT. I rekon they are great for starters who wants to lead into tuning it up and things like that. If your not into the later model skylines like the V series, the R34 GT would be the way to go IMO. They cost about $9-14K on average. Picked mine up for $11K.

Get yourself a R34 GT and when you get your fulls, get yourself a GTT or GTR if you have the cash. I too was thinking of doing up my car but it's not worth pouring $5K+ in coilovers, brakes, wheels etc since you can't do anything to increase performance yet.

I'm happy with what I've got and I'm planning to sell the car once I get my fulls. When it's gone, either I get myself a 350 or a GTT or GTR. I suggest you do the same way.

Where abouts are you from in Sydney?

Here's mine:

Id say a GTS4 R32 or R33 depending what shape you like best,

Keep the revs boiling and use the AWD to your advantage.

End of the day N/A get flamed on here, So go for what you like best.

Dont expect it to be cheap for insurance ect.

Dont bother modding it for power, unless you do a full engine conversion, Even then thats a bit of a headache.

What ever you do, Have fun and drive safe
