andrew, you sound as though the people who are reading this all live north? from the way im reading it, maybe if you "toned it down" a little people from the west would be more encouraged to attend? instead, it sounds as though its a "northerners" only club ......... ? or maybe im reading it the wrong way?

kel, don't you live just as far to parramatta as to north sydney? why are you mocking the distance to the west from where you are? :D

You take offence where there's none to be taken :D

If we didn't want Western suburbs SAU'ers to join us, why would we even consider going to restaurants out west? I merely meant that even if we did more the dinners out west, I fear that they still wouldn't come and join us for reasons stated at the AGM. (We're trying to think of ways to get the 70 or so club members who don't participate in social events to start coming along and breaking the percieved social cliques in the club)

I started this thread asking for suggestions for venues, and more veunes suggested were on the North Shore, as that's where most attendees live, and know good restaurants to suggest. Please feel free to organise next month's dinner with a venue out West (seriously)!!! You of all people know that I'm not adverse to a cruise out west for dinner or whatnot :(

As for Yak & Yeti, I've eaten there and I loved the food... Very different from the norm, with their Goat curries and similar dishes. It's very adventurous though, and not for everyone.... Not sure if it's the best place for an SAU Dinner, but worth putting it out to the crowd I guess.

We need suggestions for places outside of the northshore

the reason I can see why it's been centred on the north is that those of us who are organising it live this way and know the restaurants.

I would LOVE to go to leichardt though one night for Italian :D mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My girlfriend lives in the forum on Norton st. I'm going over there for dinner tonigh. hmmm, I may have to scout a future location. Can I claim expenses for that?

Richard

I really want to come to this ... but I dont have a car at the moment :(:D

how many of you want to cross your fingers so I get a car by the time this dinner rolls around ... ;) *having an inspection done on a R34 this Sat morning, hope it goes well*

if it happens, I will be all :P and :headspin: :headspin:

hmmm, went to a place called Il Baretto (Bourke st. Surry Hills) last night. As the GF is sick of eating on Norton Street (she lives in the forum). Was very nice and well priced but took bloody ages to get a table.

There is a place on the corner of city west link and Norton st called Grappa. My parents friends owns the joint. Very nice food, but pretty pricey and because it's so busy the service isn't always as prompt as I'd like. Very friendly though, and you can see the whole carpark from just about any table in there.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
