Hi Guys,

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything but I'm genuinely interested to know which event is most likely to be attended?

I'll take my JDM R32 GT-R to both events but also want to take my ADM to the bigger event.

I thought there were a couple of hundred cars at Shepperton last year so I'm curious to see how that compares to these two events.

Thanks for any feedback.

Cheers,

Bob.

yeah i will go to both if i can afford it, probably will scrape it in to both.

if could only do one it would be the SAU nats as i already went to shepparton and had a ball, expect similar good times in Goulburn and will probably know more people at the SAU event. That said will probably also have an amazing time at the nationals, both events cant come soon in my books.

gimme an offical sau nat thread now please!

Hands down the skyline nationals is the proven biggest Nationals For Skylines event in Australia, Shepparton had nowhere as many cars as the Skyline nationals in glenelg 2010 (Thanks to the support from SA-SAU)

Skyline Nationals even has a class at the show and shine for AUSDEL R32 GTR's..........

Being a Sydney boy the Skylines nationals would be my pick for making a weekend of it, plus I want to see some of the older classic, I take my hat off to the classic car guys, so much time and effort finding or chasing parts, its not like they can go down the local wreckers and find parts fo most of these cars.

Wouldn't have been far off that Bob.

Track day the entire Winton front carpark was full, so given 60 on the track, dozen support vehicles inside... Rough stab would say 160-170 on the Sat (was cool seeing 5 Bayside Blue 34GTR's all parked next to each other).

The Show'n'Shine has 140 entered as there were 30 or so that turned up on the day, with another 20 or so on the street who's owners chose not to enter and 10 or so on trailers off to the side.

Was a pretty good turnout overall.

SAU Nats this year is also SAU's 10th B'day, so a few added surprises coming :)

If you can go to both, do that. If not, up to you to decide! SAU Nats has 3 solid days of stuff to checkout.

gimme an offical sau nat thread now please!

Thread is up in Nats section - 3 full days of action.

Website undergoing minor improvements based on heaps of feedback and should be done in a few weeks. Entry should follow a fortnight after with a bit of luck.

Yep... 800m runs, if possible 400m as well (just gotta sort it logistically).

All fully timed... With a speed trap and a dirty big read out where the viewing area is so everyone can compare the size of their doddle in real time

Well and truly into 4th dude! Some will be into 5th no problems in a lot of cases (provided they don't break haha).

Should be interesting to see what sort of times some of the cars will do in straight lines over the 800m, reckon there could be a few surprises as well ;)

280km/h roughly based on what the big power cars were doing at Temora1000 last year (they were just over 300km/h if my memory is correct).

They will definitely be hauling ass and it'll make for some great footage for the DVD :)

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
