Looking forward to seeing the beast back in action, with even more grunt this time.

I wanted a Stagea as our family wagon but Kim didn't want anything to do with it, doesn't like the look at all - she is a Toyota girl too. In the end, I got a '03 Caldina GT-Four N. They are surprisingly quick, slight boost increase and it does mid 5sec 0-100 and 13

sec 1/4. But the best thing is the grip level they can generate and the handling, they are quite a bit lighter than a Stagea and the N version gets tricky suspension and diff.

caldina sounds good, my mate had one, felt perky, but i bought the stagea to modify a fair bit, have 3540 .82 /ext gate/700cc injectors, has a o44 and undercarsurge tank, water/meth inj, couple of big trans coolers , just saving to get the auto trans built atm, with bigger lock up converter then will bolt turbo on and crank it up...

cheers

Sounds like a quick family wagon in the making - and knowing you it was never in doubt ;) The Caldina is off limits to serious tinkering... for now.

Can't wait to get these on the car and in action! Given the so-so response to a private day in July, it looks like the open street meet on 29 July is the go.

Hopefully they deliver a reasonable 60ft given my set-up, Steve.

Andrew, I bought them from A1 Performance in WA. I bought my last set - 275 40 17 MT ET 1 from the same place. Good prices, cheaper than local despite the freight cost - warehouse is Sydney based anyway.

I might see if I can get out to the next street meet with the R35.

I have broken enough gear doing nines in my R33 so will keep that

for circuit racing & keep it in one piece!

Chucked the old 33 on the dyno today to check the tune prior to drag day and see if a few changes made any difference. Ended up with just over 385kW at the rears. Need a bigger or second fuel pump and larger fuel lines and should squeeze 400+. Will have to wait till later in year though. Just got to fit drag radials and I'm ready to go.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
